Some real positives tonight.

Garrett with a more mature performance than Travis has ever managed in a blue and white shirt, and celebrating that tackle was class. Hyam an absolute rock at the back. Diaz a bit wasteful, but grafted hard… and what a hit!

Hedges and Brittain both showed real quality, and I think they’d have both had a field day playing on their natural sides. They both had a tough time defensively in the latter stages though.

Big fan of that ball boy too.

Thought hyam, Hedges and brittain were best players on the park tonight.  Though Morton was his usual industrious self. Diaz also worked his socks off. Gallagher was pretty anonymous.  If we could get another goal scorer in January we could go far this season

Good win and grateful that there is no VAR in the Championship.

Sunderland a decent side and Roberts and Clarke good.

We held then at bay in the 2nd half and could have scored more on our breaks.

Garrett featured much more as the game progressed.

No criticism of any of our players tonight, so many put in a shift.

Mowbray was ok post match, a bit of a go at the Ref but TBH justified.

I thought he was quite honest.  But boy compared to jdt, he's one boring bastard

Some salty tears from our neighbours tonight, predicting we'll be back down to Earth tomorrow night and beat by Birmingham on Saturday.

Probably, but it's nice they've been knocked off their perch tonight and flustered at the thought of not getting all 3 points tomorrow. A must win game for them tomorrow apparently.

Sheffield United's recent form down to injuries apparently. Conveniently forgetting that we had almost our entire defence out, along with our only senior centre forward.

Be interesting to see how Burnley get on with a large amount of injuries.

Absolutely fantastic Mowbray team performance from Sunderland. Soft midfielders with some nice tippy tappy wingers. Build up some momentum at 2-0 and look like you might nick one, only for him to make 3 random subs at one go and completely fuck the flow of the team up 🤣

We were competent, assured and professional tonight. No reason we can’t go again this weekend and really put our name up there.

Tyler Morton… wow. What a footballer. They know how to pick ‘em at Liverpool.

from BBC sport  lol

a team who has lost more matches than Coventry City, the team propping up the table, is now looking down on the rest.

Well done to Blackburn Rovers, but this league is now officially BONKERS!

We'll be back in less than 24 hours for six more Championship games when Burnley, Sheffield United or even QPR could end the night in first place.

Thank you for your company. See you tomorrow.

Although we made it a little nervy at times all in all it was a comfortable win. I'm chuffed to bits with the clean sheet and although there were few under par performances it matters little in the grand scheme of things. I personally thought Hyam was once again our best player - it's surprising how many times I have said that since he signed. Garrett gets a special mention too as he did the Travis things and more besides. And breaking the frustrating sequence of WLWL gets that particular monkey off our backs. Keeping clean sheets is usually the cornerstone of Championship success and hopefully we have many more between now and the end of the season.
