Can someone tell me why, with billionaire owners, we cannot afford various players and why we automatically drop down the pecking order when other clubs are in for a player.

If it's FFP surely other clubs are subject to the same rules.

From the way people talk anyone would think we didn't have a pot to piss in.

Different clubs have different turnovers and our wage to turnover over is frightening, 14.5 ml turnover to 26 ml wages, I know some on here don’t believe in FFP and sanctions, and it’s going to harder with turnover/ wages to go to 70% in next 3 years, how’s that going to happen.3EEE4A3B-5902-4E58-8912-74E67FED0BFF.jpeg.fa21e567bb78e623a9e91101fbfbcb0b.jpeg

We’ve significantly reduced those figures. That wage bill includes what we were paying Bell, Bennett, Evans, Downing, Holtby, Mulgrew, Armstrong, Nyambe, Lenihan, Rothwell, Johnson, Chapman, Stergiakis, Fisher, Davenport, and a load of youth players.

The back fill has been done with a few signings on way lower salaries and the promotion of youth players. We’ve reduced the squad size significantly too. Our wage to turnover ratio is now on a downward curve.

Losing him for free is absolutely shambolic

All part of the business plan pisstake project.

Posters doing the FFP and turnover rounds whilst the club let players leave for nowt. Sardonic smile.

When BBD leaves for SFA and we haven't got to the PL it will be interesting to see the cost over term of a failed project purchase non event.

Meanwhile Swag continues will the policy of attendance reduction.

Fair enough, but I'd prefer to hear a Hibs fans opinion on the matter

Hibs fan here. Never a midfielder in a million years. Has the ability to be a top CB. Better than McKenna that moved to forest a few years ago. Ryan is tall, fast and tough and likes to step up with the ball, something we don’t have in the rovers squad. Has a temper and is a competitor

A key driver of turnover ie the selling and subsequent reinvestment of player sales is just totally discarded, these figures pale into insignificance if our owners keep pissing potential transfer fees away.

BBD to Villeareal rumour doing the rounds. Pre-contract

Where is this from? Would be an expected piss take.

Don't we know you won't stop saying it.

It depends on how much money would be invest and would we got a good enough replacement in. Also bids on deadline day were pointless. Never going to be accept us.

We having one loan player to replace one who left us. Maybe the player we want isn't available to the Summer or his club wants too much for him. Plus depending on what the budget and whether you can get a quality player.

You suggesting signing BBD and signing 3 players but then you are increasing the wage bill which might be over budget. Plus can you sign a quality replacement in this window. Big questions and none we really have the answer to as we don't have access to the budget, what is going on the behind the scenes transfer wise, plus agents, clubs and players demands?

Fair enough. I judge him on all 6 departments

no transfer window is easy ss you make you it sound. I don't know if you what the transfer documentary yesterday on Sky one at 9pm last night but what a brilliant insight in football and how clubs, agents and players work in transfer window and before.

I understand your point about BBD but if clubs want to get him on the cheap then no chance. Plus you got to look replacement's cost and can you bring in the required quality. You are talking at least 5 million for a quality striker to replace BBD's goals then you need a left side midfielder to replace him position wise. In the summer maybe we can do it cheaper or have a bigger budget than this season. We see in the coming weeks and months

We currently have 2 loan players at the club. Garrett and Wharton will replace Morton anyway long term.

I think BBD will sign a pre contract with a Spanish club. Probably in the near future it will be announce. Said this in the summer also.

Ayala will go but if we sign the Hibs defender haven't we already replace him plus Carter and Phillips backing this up.

hardly a rebuild at the minute looking at it but GB and his team will be planning for next season already or should be despite the January window being open.

what are his strengths and weaknesses

Not sure where £5m comes from but you don't seem to fathom the fact that the alternative to taking these sums is to replace Brereton for free. Straight question, do you think we can sign a quality striker on a permanent contract on a free transfer, as well as a left sided midfielder? Would it be easier with £5m even or zilch?

You are throwing lots of excuses in front of the club regarding transfers. Surely now we have created this extensive recruitment team supposedly, we are in a strong position to deal with the hurdles of signing players to be able to do it effectively?

I agree the amount of players we have let run their contracts down is ridiculous but how do you know funds won't be provided to replace Brererton in the summer?

We didn't sell anyone to bring him here in the first place.Cash was found to replace Lenihen with Hyam and altho 2 different players money was spent on Szmodic to replace Rothwell.

Loses his awkward cult hero status if he leaves on a free, surely.

I think he will be pretty unique in that he’ll be a cult hero with the fans, but a £7 million loss and nothing to show for it he will have to go down as one of our worst ever signings.

Something we don't have in this current rovers side! I'd love him here if he's like that.

We get bullied far to much and our players just let it happen and smile about it ..I remember a Burnley player sticking 3 fingers up at hyam saying 3-0 in the Derby and hyam just walked by, infuriated me! If I was in hyams place I would of started on him lmao

The more I hear of this Ryan, the more I like the sound of his signing

Can I ask why he couldn't make it as a midfield anchorman? He sounds tailor-made for that more than centre back from those attributes?

Its such an inefficient way to seperate generating funds through sales and buying players.

There are numerous summers in which we have barely spent anything, its all random.

Even if there is an unlimited Venkys pot, which there isnt. Surely there should be a focus on sustainability especially with everyones favourite excuse, FFP. No one in the club can ever bemoan FFP when the owners are dismissing the idea of generating funds through sales to reinvest.

You also mention the summer spending, say we spent roughly £5m, a very reasonable net spend. Rothwell and Brereton in the last year could have generated over double that, so it pales into insignificance. Even had we taken the say £12m, reinvested that and Venkys could keep the budget of £5m they planned to spend, we would still be in a better position.

Well I think that’s why the idiot Johnson has tried there a few times in the last few weeks. Fine when we have been against 10men but got switched back to CB pretty quickly at the weekend. Gets caught on the ball in midfield though, and doesn’t have the dynamism or balance for that role IMO.
He is a character and a wind up merchant, would love to get stuck into the mob up the road.

Sounds great, exactly what we need. Sign him up as Ayala replacement.

Sorry but that should say 'CURRENTLY 5th....' and if our form continues the way it is we will slowly but surely slip back into our usual mid table mediocrity.

The post was an answer to a question as to what our league position is, so obviously stated the current position. What other answer could be given ?

Never seen or heard of the bloke before(but the same goes for 90% of venky era signings)

Sounds Mokoenaish! And that is something we are severally lacking
