As with Ahmedhodžić, I suspect our wage offer is thoroughly disappointing to the player and their representatives. Agree or not with keeping a wage structure, we seem to struggle to attract the players we want when there is competition.

So just do what Sheff Utd did and pretend you can afford it

This whole transfer window for loan players is a

lottery.

Rovers identify a player who may be surplus to requirements > manager checking injuries to see if he needs back up > other clubs get involved > agent stick his/ her oar in to get the best feel for the player and himself/herself > player’s partner has a say in what they like > Rovers are doing the same thing with other players at other clubs to cover their bases> loan club then buys a player a week before the transfer closes and loan player is suddenly made available> Rovers need to ship a player out to pay for the incoming player> loan deal needs to be made with player/agent/club >medical etc

Probably cheaper to go in early with a bid that is over what we would normally pay and get your man early and save thousands of man hours and admin costs

Am I being simplistic?

Absolue rubbish.

No, we have left it too late. We should have sold him in the summer.

If he has agreed with Villarreal, they are letting Danjuma and maybe Jackson go so I would try and negotiate an early release for a fee.

I expect Villareal will super low-ball us with such an offer once the pre-contract is signed. Probably offer us a couple of million, maybe 3.

Take it, snap the hands off, give it the manager like they should have done in the summer.

This times a thousand.

It's a long term strategy, with the aim of being sustainable and built on solid foundations.

The handful shouting for JDT and Broughton to be sacked, a few months into this strategy is short-termism in the extreme and would do nothing but set us back further than where we started from.

Might be being optimistic, but I like to think that the vast majority of supporters can see this.

Whilst I lost faith in JDT's tactical acumen after the Boro game (it had already been fading for a while), I'm content to give at least the full season before making a firm judgement on this new regime. However, I reserve the right to make criticisms (and give praise) along the way. I don't expect to call for anyone's head before the season is pretty much done though, if then. Not saying it might not happen briefly in a fit of emotion of course lol, but the sensible time to make a full assessment will be season's end, IMO.

Obviously any Mowbray-level death spiral may warrant an earlier call.

Don't think there is any chance Venkys allow that after what we saw with the Rothwell situation, where more money was offered for a less valuable player and they said no. Maybe that stubborness would result in Villareal upping the offer to something they'll accept...but I doubt it. Not while we are sat in the playoffs. I would guess they'll want 8 million bare minimum even after a pre-contract is signed.

All comes down to income and that’s Waggott’s department, not Broughtons.

Not enough home fans because the pricing is unaffordable.

Not enough being earned outside the ground because the ‘fanzone’ offering is terrible.

Not enough being earned at the club shop because there’s no stock.

Not enough being earned in the corporate offering because nobody wants to bring clients to a shoddy operation and a stadium in dire need of a refurb.

Marketing department don’t have the budget to do anything of worth - no links to Bilbao, no links to The English Game, not taken advantage of Brereton-Diaz mania. There’s not a single bit of this club the town can be excited about.

No income from player sales because Waggott put all expenditure, including player contracts, on hold during COVID… so they’re now all leaving for free.

We have a CEO who judges success on ‘did I have to ask the owners for anymore money than I said I would need’ rather than on field and local success. He’s not bothered as long as he can tick the box. No risk, no ambition, no outside the box thinking.

JDT isn’t the problem. The players aren’t the problem. Broughton isn’t the problem. Waggott OUT should be sung from the Blackburn End but somehow they’ve managed to alienate the fan base that are willing to rock the boat and convince those that remain this is normal.

When’s the next supporters consultation? I’m very close to assembling a team of people that can’t bear that man’s shit anymore.

That misses the point that Waggott will be working to parameters set for him by those to whom he reports - which will be the owners. Just saying Waggott Out is pointless - he would be replaced by somebody whose remit would be exactly the same.

I'm not defending him because I can't stand him either, but didn't he say ST receipts were highest since we got relegated? That's his remit achieved.

So a way for season ticket holders to assist in Waggot not reaching his target, is to not renew next season.

I presume Hibs may have well accepted our bid. It will be the players agent now trying to get the best deal for him…which will no doubt be Watford.

Better salary, yes.

But there are a number of variables involved in any transfer (geography being one of them) and, without us knowing the player personally, we don't know how it'll play out.

We should find out in the next day or two, you'd imagine...

Udinese have a bid rejected. So now Watford are having a go. FFS!

If Rovers have had a bid accepted then hopefully Porteous sees the light and comes to the club that wants him the most.

What does amortised mean ?

Depreciated or written off. If a player who cost £4m had a four year contract their residual value at the end of the contract would be nil under accounting policies adopted by every club other than Derby, That would mean that the cost of the player would be fully amortised - or written off - in the club's accounts over the 4 years with a charge of £1m each year to profit and loss.

But is he the best man to operate within those parameters ?

I'd say no but then we have to take into account his previous at shrinking, struggling downgrading clubs like Coventry and Charlton.

Then many might say that's exactly why he's here although our failure to ever really kick on under him on or off the park has to be linked in some way surely.

Even if he's only part of the problem it's still an area that could be improved upon.

Waggot is targeted to bring in X amount as a commercial value. He achieves X by increasing pricing to his existing customer base rather than trying to grow his customer base by making the experience more affordable and attractive. Most of J*B’s points are things he could do that could increase revenue, rather than fleece the loyal fan base.

It’s a lazy, short term way of hitting his target. At some point we will have a bad season and the £500 price will just lead to a significant downturn in season ticket holders and revenue. There’s no long term plan here. No “what about in 3 years time, or 5 years time”. It’s all knee-jerk to hit targets today. I reckon if SW believed he was here for the next 5 years he might take a different approach. However if he hits target each year and then walks away with his corporate reputation intact, it will be the next stooge who has the serious problem. It’s just not in the interests of BRFC.

Of course, Venkys ultimately are to blame for having no interest and not seeing any of the above.
