Tomasson continues to stress, as he pointedly did after the Birmingham City replay, his focus is on matters on the training pitch, not the negotiation table.

But so often it is left up to the manager in such situations to face the questions meant for those above them.

Conte, the Tottenham manager, raised this in the press recently. It is only in England that the manager has to explain to the media everything that's going on at a club - from the training pitch to the transfer negotiations to club ownership.

In Italy, the coach / manager is only answerable to the performance of the team

He's right. When has Daniel Levy ever been on TV to explain what's going on at Tottenham? Similarly, Broughton and Waggott should be in front of the media to explain the transfer dealings and any other issues

This needs to change

It seems Broughton's charm offensive has taken the heat away for a while looking at the LT article. The distraction of a game tonight has helped but if that appeal fails tomorrow then we need to be told the absolute truth. No flowery salesman patter, just the honest truth and if there is negligence on anybody's part they have to be dealt with.

Last time I saw Swag out from under his rock being interviewed he was trying to justify flogging off Brockhall.

So keep him away from a microphone…

Why? That's when he needs to be held to account, to justify his decisions. At it stands, he can hide away in office and not say a word on important matters that fans need to know about

Do I need evidence for feeling optimistic? He talks sense and seems to have honest intentions in my view. I also think he faces an up hill battle in trying to make the many changes at the club. That's the rational behind me wanting to give him time.

What do you mean trying hard to deflect to the site? It's glaringly obvious a lot of this site won't give any one time, they want immediate results. I don't have to try hard in the slightest to point that out. People were shouting up after about 10 days after his appointment that we hadn't signed anyone

We're not a well run club and have been a joke for 12 or so years. That's not conducive to getting a seasoned DoF rather we're going to have to take a punt on someone who's doing a degree of learning on the job.

I simply asked you why you were optimistic. You replied it was just a feeling you had. Fair enough but unconvincing. Course he can talk sense but can he ensure a form gets properly filled out and in on time? Does he care enough---we do.

And its laughable to suggest that the site wants" immediate results".

After all these years of crap, we're still here, still wishing the club to do well, still hanging on in hope.

But. its quite clear, if it wasn't already, that the Club is nowhere near geared up to meet our hopes.

Blind optimism won't help.

Because he has nothing of any note to say. He obviously has zero authority on football matters.

He's the CEO. The head man at Ewood.  CEOs in other public-facing businesses are answerable for their actions. He should be too

He’s a CEO in name only, obviously helps to fulfil corporate governance obligations, but he is obviously not the head honcho at Venky owned BRFC.

Are you able to use the reply button?

Obviously he's answerable to India but unless you're expecting that lot to appear before the local press he is the man who should be answerable to the Blackburn public and answering the awkward questions - not Tomasson

Conte was right. The way we do this in England is wrong

That article of Sharpe's  is as blunt and honest as I can remember the LT publishing. Fair play to him. I hope they're listening,

This is one of those moments that you just  instinctively know have long-term repercussions----like the 1960 Cup Final or Shearer leaving or Kean being appointed manager. You just know they are fateful days. and much will spring from them one way or another.

A good CEO who cared about relations with the local public would not be happy about the article and be on the phone to Sharpe for a clear-the-air meeting, or at least put out a statement putting the club's point of view

Instead we'll get the usual silence for the Ewood hierarchy

That’s what GB is here for.

He’s a commercial director in reality and I’m happy enough to hear from him on commercial policies, I.e the annual ticket fiascos. But football matters, why, when he has zero influence?

Why don't you use the reply button?

Waggott is CEO; he's the man in charge at Ewood Park. When things go wrong (which they have), he should carry the can, or at least give some sort of explanation. This shouldn't need explaining

But he isn’t the man in charge of the football side of the club and he doesn’t carry the can.

GB is facing up and that’s fine by me, but if you want to hear platitudes and non-answers on topics that Swag has no power or influence over, then fair enough.

At this point, irrespective of any appeal outcome (we all know how that's going to pan out), I'd take some humility, honesty, self-reflection and a clear sense of what changes are going to be be put in place to prevent this type of thing happening again.

We've made ourselves look like mugs and this mustn't happen again. I'm not a big one for scapegoating and prefer openness and a commitment to putting processes in place to ensure it never happens again. Having said that, if the whole debacle did result in some degree of staffing 'reconfiguration' I'd be okay with that as we do have some muppets working for us unfortunately.

A solid victory tonight will help me to try to start focusing on a potential good second half to the season as opposed to our propensity to 'death-spiral'.

Anyone reckon we'll bother bringing in any of the free agents?

The list is a bit 'meh' as a whole, but some of the names on there could still be considered improvements on what we have.

Personally, I'd run with what we've got now. Genuinely blood the youngsters - see who's made of what and then hopefully we're clear on who we're going to retain in the summer and who is surplus to requirements.

I see no benefit in promotion if I'm being honest as I think it would make next season a car crash of epic proportions, but I would prefer to see the likes of Leonard, Wharton, Garrett etc. all being given genuine chances to show if they're going to sink or swim. If you're good enough you're old enough.

I can't ever understand this point of view, that fans pop up with from time to time. This regime has really done a number on the ambition of the fanbase.

Financially alone, this club desperately needs promotion. Even if we came straight back down.

It starts with the owners' austerity of Ewood Park. Endorsed by Waggott. Or vice versa.

Uncle Jack's phrase was "think big". Venkys phrase is "think small".

So your reply button doesn't work?

As CEO, Waggott holds ultimate responsibility for everything that's going on at Ewood, particularly the big stuff, you know, like a transfer window mess and the fanbase up in arms about the the running of the club.
