A number of times in that first half we had the ball out wide running at their full back. Gallagher and Pickering did it. JRC and Dack had the full back isolated. We got into good positions but failed to capitalise. That’s what happens when you play strikers in ‘wide’ roles. Brereton can carry the ball so carries far more of a threat in those positions.

Having lost Brereton, we knew we had little threat going forward. And yet we played Gallagher out wide instead of Markanday who has looked lively for weeks. When it wasn’t working, we came out again and carried on. So what we could have done is actually start Dolan or Markanday in a position that suits instead of playing Gallagher somewhere he has consistently been ineffective.

It looked wrong at kick off. It was proved wrong in the first half but it wasn’t changed until game over. Markanday showed in the second half what might have been when they were exposed in that first half.

Stubborn. Stupid.

I'd have started Dolan but I still don't think it would have mattered. The only positions that looked strong on the teamsheet were Ayala and Hyam. Apart from that it looked like a shambles of a team and the bench options don't offer much in the way of changes.

Fullbacks... oof.

Midfield... oof oof.

Forwards... Pass me the valium.

The only way to stop the “Mowbray death spiral” rebranded the “JDT tumble” is to buy/ loan three rock solid proven players in defence, midfield, and attack.

Games like these need ugly. Every pass backwards is 20 seconds less opportunity to score a goal. We need a few bruisers to push forward and  to eek out draws and wins in an ugly way.

I am also in a minority here I know  I love Dack and on his day he is capable of magic but relying him to be the talisman these days is not a real option.

We need real balance. Dack had an intuitive partnership with Danny Graham which yielded plenty of goals. We don't play Brereton or Gallagher as target men. We should, against teams like Rotherham

If the manager has anything resembling ambition he needs to be in broughtons office Monday morning and demand quality signings or resign. We carry no threat and Gallagher first touch , heading and ability to hold up the ball is poor. We desperately need a big guy up top to disrupt defences and a senior midfield player to dictate play and get the tackles in whether this blocks development or not. We are to small to young and lack genuine pace. There’s no drive and desire it’s almost as if the object of the game is to keep the ball not win.

It is amongst the worst football I’ve seen at Rovers what happened to the cavalry charge when we need goals to get back in games. It is utter dross

The club is not set up to compete across a full season. The emphasis is not on what we need, it is about "not blocking pathways."

But if that was true then ehy keep playing on loan bottlers like morton ahead of travis and  wharton or ayala that will be gone at the end of the season in place of other wharton

In the interests of fairness and balance, it should be pointed out that he has branded the performance 'embarassing':

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23251111.embarrassing---tomassons-verdict-blackburn-rovers-defeat/

Also I think I should say, there was another time they showed him in the dugout, when it was at least 2-0, where he didn't look happy at all. We have no idea what he was laughing at, but the media love to show little selected snippets to make controversy. Again though, I do agree it's a bad look and he should be more conscious of it when the cameras are on. If you'd put the camera on me today I had a face of thunder throughout the second half just watching at home, but there have been times at games where we are losing, and I'm angry, but somebody says something amusing and I chuckle for a moment.

Brereton being out is a big miss as apart from his goals he is a handful for the opposition, even just running at them. It means they can't commit as much. Rotherham must have figured out pretty quickly our front two didn't have any chance of scoring but with Brereton there's always the chance of a worldie.

But it's not just Brereton, we're missing other players and we should have signed a few by now. At the moment it's Mowbray's team with the addition of Morton and Hyam, but minus Lenihan, Nyambe and Johnson. I don't expect anything from forwards like Gallagher and Vale, along with a midfield with two young lads, a makeshift fullback and a fullback that's not good enough. So results like today aren't a surprise to me. It's more of a surprise when we win.

agree to sone extent but we aint been seeing the brereton diaz of late only brereton and questionable if at all  this season since the cheshire cat rocked in ..note he has also been in the other atrocities this srason has he not so it sort of moots your point

Dack is only as good as the players in front of him. Stick a player like Pukki or Toney in front of him and they'd score a bucket load.

Not sure about Gallagher as a target man as today he was just giving up before he'd even lost the ball, but I don't know why we don't play BBD up front when we need to.

You're not the manager though. You can't be seen laughing on the bench at 2-0 down looking like you haven't got a care in the world. It looks like him and Remy don't give a shit.

The atrocities have also coincided with my other point that we overall, have a lacklustre bunch of players. So not really.

If you think we're just as bad with Brereton then your cup is emptier than mine.

As somebody said before losing is part of football, it is actually something we are very used to, but I'm getting absolutely cheesed off at the amount of no shows. We cannot keep having performances like this, Preston which are humiliations. Also let's not forget the Cardiff away, Coventry away were we offered absolutely nothing and seemed clueless.

I don't follow any other teams closely but I simply cannot believe that teams can be as bad as us when they have off days!
