v Bristol City (a) - 21/1/23

Recommended Posts

1 1 was a fair result.

Positives are Dacks back and we held well with a player short.

Negatives are Kaminski error, Ayala's red card and return of Big Ben.

Vale was rubbish but JDT will play him again & again as it fulfills his develop players policy.

JDT on Jack Vale: “It’s a difficult position.

“It’s not easy to play as a striker, particularly in this league with good player

“He’s still young, 21-year-old, not experienced at this level, but of course we all know we need to develop players to create value and be sustainable over time"

says it all

“At the end, I think the result is okay,” Tomasson said.

“When you’re leading and controlling the game I think it was a very solid performance.

“Coming away to Bristol City it’s a difficult place to come to when you look at the attacking quality they have and the last couple of weeks regarding their form.

“With leading, you can be a bit disappointed with the way we conceded the goal, individual mistakes happen in football, but I’m happy to see the lads digging in, 10 against 11, with a great spirit, fighting together and I think we can be pleased and satisfied with a draw in that way.

“On the other hand a bit disappointed if you see how we controlled the game in the way we wanted.”

“It was a brilliant goal, overloading on right-hand side, played with few touches, a good run from Morton, a cut-back and Bradley chose a great position and a good finish.

“Normally he does that.”

On the goal Rovers conceded, Tomasson said: “That’s football, we all that Thomas has had excellent games as well and has been important the whole season.

“On another day he keeps that ball.”

Yep, I got no argument with the red.

Sometimes you get away with them due to being so far from goal.

But can't complain when the ref shows a 2nd yellow there, player should know better when he's on a card.

Expect two red cards a match then if players are getting booked for that.

It wasn't even a foul.

Who else is he supposed to play upfront?

Sounds like he's playing in the wrong position then. But those who were watching on here have described his performance as lazy, so not sure what job he was doing for the team. Supervisor perhaps...

He wasn't doing anything for the team. Like I said earlier, when Ayala was sent off Carter came on in his place and Vale went off.

Nothing changed.

The lack of goals is nothing new,we've struggled all season.A new Forward should have been identified and brought in the first week of Jan

We've struggled for goals for 12 months. At least Dack is back because BBD is doing exactly the same last season - good for half  season and then his goals dry up. .

If nobody else is brought in I would play a partnership of Gally and Markanday through the middle.

I'll change my question, who else that's not shit at scoring goals does he play instead of Vale?

Markanday's a winger.

On Markanday: “He felt not 100 per cent yesterday so we didn’t take any risks with him.

“We trained yesterday in Birmingham, he came with us, but he felt something and wasn’t 100 per cent so we didn’t want to take any risks.”

Glad that was the case. No doubts we will see him feature against Birmingham next Sat (if fit).

Jack Vale.

Not big, but not small.

Not quick, but not slow.

Not skilful, but capable of a trick.

Not a poacher, but can finish.

Not strong, but not weak.

League Two at best.

Not a lot of options at the moment but there does seem to be an inconsistency with the relative treatments of Vale and Burns, who has fallen way down the order.

That said, neither have shown enough on loan and Having given Vale the nod, it makes sense to give him sub appearances to try and reach the necessary level until an alternative is found. I guess the next in line is Leonard until we bring someone in, unless Markanday can do a job there.

I want Vale to do well, as he's our player - and he has shown small spurts of quality.

However, the rest of the time, his decision making looks a second off the pace, which shows in his late choice of pass and over-dribbling attempts.

Also lightweight and weak on the ball.

I hope that JDT is making a point by playing him - ie who else do we have to choose from?

Not too disappointed with a point from today's game. Ugly match, had hoped we'd done enough at 1-0, but 1-1 is ok.

Still absolutely furious with Kaminski, if Pears did that he would be up for castration.

thought Buckley and Morton had decent spells in the game. Vale completely anonymous, this isn’t his level, get Undav in asap.

Hedges, Pickering and Wharton all having better games. Dack always a goal threat.

Need some signings asap.

JDT again too slow to sub, should have had Gallagher on for Vale at half time. Ayala is always a danger to go on a yellow.

Fair result in the end.

A couple of good crosses went in today, Brereton should certainly have converted one of them. I don’t understand why we don’t do this more often. Overall though we didn’t get into their box often enough. The one time Morton took a bit of a gamble and committed in the box, look what happened - Dack was superb for the goal, started and finished the move.

We’ve got some effective players, but they seem to be playing to specific instructions where scoring goals is very much a secondary objective

Markanday's a winger.

I have seen Markanday a few times for the U21s. Believe me he is not a winger. His main asset is a good shot. More could be made of this asset playing him through the middle, rather than on the wing. As you have changed the question, JDT could try a partnership of Dack up front with Gally.

Yes, an outstanding manager/coach would want to bring in his own players.

However, an outstanding manager / coach would also set the side up to get the best out of what he's already got and adapt tactics accordingly.

We are uninspiring, boring and IMO, worryingly, for the large part, don't even look interested.  Are these players even playing for JDT?

To me, today's performance only confirmed many things we already knew - Buckley is vastly over hyped and over rated, Morton couldn't direct traffic, Hedges needs to play on the left side of our team and Vale is like a little boy lost.  Kaminski now seems to have developed the yips (high on my recruitment list would be a goalkeeping coach with credibility and proven coaching ability).  Great to see Dack regularly playing again - still our best player by a country mile, let's just hope he doesn't get p1ssed off with this shambles.

What a series of bizarre comments here.

Of course the players are playing for JDT. You say this shambles but we are 4th in the league yet people on here are calling it a shambles or JDT should go.

He ain't a striker just like BBD isn't

We need a centre forward who can rough up opposition centre and create opportunities for the of Dack etc. Our big forwards are total pusses and are not up to the task required.

You mean like a Danny Graham type?

that in under 21s football but for the first team he plays from the right and he has shown his tricky and skill like Rotherham away last week or in the cup games
