Wharton promoted to the under 21s

Tyler Morton (yes him) actually started in CM last week for the u21s. A.Wharton wasn't even in the squad originally, get your head around that!

The England setup is far too biased to big clubs. There's no way Morton would be anywhere near the squad if he was a permanent Hull player, rather than on loan from Liverpool.

Morton isn't better than Wharton, and correct their is bias but Morton has done well for Hull this season and I don't think he was as awful as made out last season. He has been a regular starter for 2 seasons running for teams in and around the top 6 the majority of the season.

When he did get a game for Liverpool he wasn't that bad , impressing in both the Milan champions league game and away to Spurs in the premier league in an important match when Klopp left other more experienced players out.Im not suggesting he is Liverpool level but he is one of the better young midfielders at championship level and he would be around the England under 21 squad imo regardless of his Liverpool connection, still a joke Wharton wasn't in the initial squad this time when he is playing every week in the premier league

Jaden Philogene is a permanent Hull player though and he's in the U21 squad.

Media selling Finneran for us now! Just turned 16 and never kicked a ball for us.

What's the bloody point?

And what do you know, he's yet to sign a professional contract! Newc after him now.

We are raising star players with little benefit for us! They don't play for us and we don't get a real fee.

Unsustainable.

The system is currently set up to run 85% of the football pyramid out of business.

He's been at Rovers since he was 8.

He made his senior debut for Rovers in the FA Cup v Cambridge in the 3rd round in January 2024. He became Rovers youngest ever debutant.

As things stand we'll be lucky to cover costs.

This is the fabled PATHWAY.

If I were in the shoes of Phillips and Wharton, I would have done what both of them did.

We had the option to block Phillips move by playing him in the first team according to his contract and the club decision was not to and we ended up with the worst of both worlds - no Play off and no Phillips

We didn't roll over on the sale of Wharton. The accepted offer was the third bid AFTER Palace had lifted the number from something derisory. We are probably on course for £23m plus 15% of the difference between at least £80m and £23m when Adam moves on from Palace.

Again, the sabotage of the O'Brien deal is probably the reason Adam is not still at Ewood. Not that O'Brien is that great a miss but he would have given us that bit extra that would have won an extra point last season.

Now putting myself in Finernan's boots, it is a no brainer to stay with Rovers at this point in his development and he would be very badly advised to move now. The big risk of losing him is in two years time if we are not in the Premier League.

Ironically if we get relegated he could look forward to being an automatic starter next season....

This isn’t the case. Each time we played him his buyout figure increased. But we where coming to the end of a season where a top six finish was possible, so JDT told Waggott he wasn’t willing to play a 17 year old over his established centre backs.

From that article…

’However, it would be a surprise if they stood in the way of a big move to a top club for the Irish ace’

The system is set up so we can’t stand in his way (and it stinks)

Player of the match again today according to the BBC. A once in a generation player for us.

Yep, and thanks to the dire situation the caretakers of the club left us in we've cashed in as soon as possible when we could have got a bigger figure at the end of the season, in addition to actually having a midfield in the second half of the season.

That said, Eustaceball may have devalued him a bit!

Watching the highlights of Forest v Palace today, Wharton made a great pass for a chance spurned and created another which was missed. However, if I’m not mistaken, he is also the player who inexplicably gives Forest’s most talented player, Gibbs-White, the freedom of the City Ground to make his own lofted pass for Woods’ goal.

I think there you see the two sides of Wharton. Currently, Palace fans are greatly impressed by his technical game but at some point, he will be called out for the intensity in his game at times.

Tugay got away with it and maybe, in other countries it’s tolerated from the playmaker but the pressure will be on at some point, I think. It could be partly a fitness issue, as was suggested whilst he was playing for Rovers.
