Boro have made 5 signings so far including Morgan Rogers from Man City plus 2 players from Australia today. 

They are close to signing Dieng from QPR on a perm deal . He would have been good signing for us to replace Kaminski if sold.

At least the pundits pretend to look interested in the EFL, I’d be potting that Woozencroft instead who sounds like he’s there under duress, pining to be back on talksport anchoring another fascinating discussion on Tottenham’s latest draw.

It's becoming clear to me that the punditry format has gone stale and the TV companies are just shifting the deck chairs on the Titanic. I never watch the build up, half time chat and very rarely and post match analysis. For MOTD and the EFL programmes they are usually recorded and I fast forward through the chatty bits. The whole industry needs a revamp in my view. I record the Big Match Revisited each Saturday and there are no 'experts' in the gantry babbling on and very rarely studio guests, just good old Brian Moore holding the fort (and very well too I might add).

Agreed.

The best pundit for the EFL is Don Goodman and he’s in the commentary box, it’s often amateur hour when it goes back to David Prutton and whichever cliche spouters they’ve brought in this week (Christ knows how he got that gig by the way, but says it all of how important the lower leagues are to Sky).

I like listening to the PL build up on Sky Sports of the games. 

But EFL highlights should be more focus on actions from the games and interviews with players/managers of their main game on ITV. 

I would suspect the BBC or Channel 4 to bid for the next TV highlights package from the EFL

Without doubt Don Goodman is the most insightful, knowledgeable and eloquent co commentator, I also like Andy Hinchcliffe for the same reason. The like of Lee Hendrie bring nothing to the game for me.

Unfortunately they seem to have abandoned efforts at getting the most knowledgeable or informative pundits on and instead pursue those who are 'funny' or tick certain boxes. 

The product inevitably deteriorates as a result and then this leads to more and more changes, most of them for the worse.

It isn't just football, its the same with Sky's cricket coverage.

Agreed. I'd say Jobi is the best EFL pundit on Sky just ahead of afro Don and the chin Hinchcliffe.

Don goodman is a good commentator but it used to annoy the hell out of me when he talked about how respected Mowbray was by the rovers fans and what a fantastic job he's done.  He just spouted clichés

Amazed by the disrespect for Mowbray on here.

Given what went before Mowbray was a welcome relief and breath of fresh air.

That relegation with a close record high points was unfortunate but getting out of League 1 at the first time of asking literally saved the club.

Of course he could and should have done better in his last two seasons with us and that is why he wasn't renewed.

He probably learned from those blow ups but let's hope not too much. His biggest contribution yet hopefully is his limitations derailing Sunderland this season.

Short memories. Allardyce got it far worse on here and in the stands during his time here and long after he departed. This despite keeping us safely in the PL with barely two pennies to rub together. Fans booing whilst we were 3-0 up.

Mowbray had it easy. People get very easily offended on his behalf for whatever reason. Lad had it good here, got paid well and barely a muttering from the stands despite some horrible spells of form and throwing away incredible chances to get into the playoffs two seasons in a row. You had certain people talking about building statues for him ffs. Meanwhile he was, by his own admission, advising the club's staff to move elsewhere.

As far as Mowbray limiting Sunderland, we'll see. It might work out fine for him if he isn't in control of transfers and is actually accountable for results - something sorely lacking during his tenure here.

If there is a hint of Mowbray preparing a plan B for Sunderland games, I will be concerned.

I don't think you'll see the same Mowbray at Sunderland that you saw here. He got an easy ride here from the owners, the CEO and the supporters. No pressure put onto him and it showed in his and the team's attitude. He benefited from a lack of ambition across all areas, achieved by years of the remaining fanbase being beaten into submission by those in charge. At the first hint of disgruntlement, a scattering of discontent - against Barnsley maybe?  - he threw his toys out of the pram, such had his aura of invincibility grown - telling off the fans whilst flags bearing his face waved behind him in the background. 

Sunderland is going to be a completely different environment for him. I think he's a decent manager/coach when focused, accountable and kept on his toes. Next season will show whether that is the case or not.
