mr perfect russell martins southampton look to be grinding to halt, honestly,it would be some achievement managerial wise not to get that side promoted🤣

He's the reason I feel either Leeds or Ipswich will pip them to second. A great squad and financial clout covers a lot of mistakes (think Parker as a manager too) but at some point a lack of managerial nous will get exposed.

Quite possibly. Hadnt given it much thought but its an interesting one.

Although I don't think Saints fans rate their keeper for one? I think it's been documented the defenders have found the style difficult and uncomfortable at times which is on the manager.

Millwall have sacked Edwards & are in talks to re-appoint Neil Harris as manager. Great! Just in time for when we play them. Hopefully they don't get a new manager bounce & remain in freefall. Could do with keeping as many teams below us in the mix as possible.

Bad news at West Brom. Their loathed Chinese owner has just agreed to sell them to an American group.

Bad news because there goes another Championship club to a change of ownership despite the usual negative fans on social media claiming there's no alternative to the current lot and nobody in the world buys loss making debt ridden Championship clubs. Strange isn't it.

W.B.A hardly debt ridden received 50M parachute payment at end of last season, with a final 20M due this year if they fail to win promotion

West Brom don't get any parachute payments next season.

If a club is relegated from the Prem after only 1 season, they only get 2 years of parachute payments

A club gets 3 years payments if they were in the Prem for at least 2 years

This article goes into more detail for anyone interested https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-parachute-payments-efl-8301767

What the above means is that...

* Assuming Leicester, Southampton and Leeds get promoted this season (which is not beyond the realms of possibility), then the only clubs who will be in receipt of parachute payments next season will be whoever gets relegated from the Prem this season.

* If any/all of Leicester, Southampton and Leeds are not promoted this season, they will still have another 2 years of parachute payments left (unless they are promoted back to the Prem in less than that amount of time),

* If any/all of Dingles, Sheff Utd, Luton are relegated this season, they will only get 2 years parachute payments (unless they are promoted back to the Prem in less than that amount of time), all other clubs would get 3 years (again, this is unless they are promoted back to the Prem in less than that amount of time),

It does look that the debt was possibly cleared as part of their recent takeover

https://www.sportindustry.biz/news-categories/news/west-brom-announces-new-owner/#:~:text=EFL Championship football club West,Florida-based businessman Shilen Patel.

"Lai had acquired West Brom from Jeremy Peace for over £200m in 2016, but recently agreed a deal to repay a loan he secured on shares in West Brom’s parent company to speed up the takeover process."

They still have no more parachute payments though, and numerous players on well over £20K/week

"Who would buy a club with that debt?"

Yes my mistake W.B.A received their second PP at end of last season so will not qualify for anymore at the end of this season.

Watford and Norwich  will still be in receipt of their second payment at the end of this season

Dingles received no parachute payment

"Looking ahead, though, Watford will need to generate more money as there will be no Premier League parachute payment for the 24/25 season so, unless they were to be promoted, they would have to become more self-sufficient."

The same would apply to Norwich as they were (like Watford) promoted to the Prem for only one season

Chair locked up for a year for breaking a HGV drivers skull with a rock

I genuinely thought that was a wind up, massive loss to QPR, but if accusations are true, then what a scumbag to do something like that

Edit - According to this he has been sentenced but not locked up, is still in the UK, appealing the verdict, and available to play for QPR apparently

Yeh I summarised it slightly, it's quite convoluted apparently.  It happened on the French border, French side.  The French aren't prosecuting but the Belgium are.

That was a goal for Leicester and the assistant ref chickened out.

Leicester should be 3 or 4 up but still have just the one.

After another miss by Leicester, a very poor one, Leeds scored.

Anyone's game now.

The Championship needs VAR to replace...Leeds lead 2-1 ...crap officials.

Leeds jammy Yorkshire twats.
