It was a penalty. The actual foul started outside the box, continued into the box and ended with an elbow shove in the back.

There was no clear and obvious error.

We got away with one, Nigeria were stronger as the game went on and the ref more accomodating to their physical game. How was the overhead kick not dangerous play? She knew she was in close proximity to defenders.

England are so fortunate to go through. Second best everywhere apart from penalties. Some of the girls need to have a good look at their own performances and understand that maybe they’re not quite as good as they thought they were. Not good enough.

Automatic one game ban but could be longer after a review due to it being for violent conduct - so says Gabby Logan anyway!

That was a decent game and well done to the Aussie ladies, good win for the team, Country and the WC.

They have some good footballers and pace.

Denmark gave it a go in the second half, before that they were predictably boring.

Yes, a cross. Poor by the keeper though.

Their keeper made amends.

Colombia a competitive, well organised team with good footballers. This has a long way to go.

Tournament football is all about getting through to the next round and the girls have done it without yet putting in a great performance which bearing in mind the injured is understandable.

We are still difficult to score against.

If current form was a league table we'd be in 4th position going into the semis. Fortunately football doesn't work like that, the Matilda's will be hell of a test.

I suppose it had to happen eventually, the BBC have made watching televised football a miserable experience. No crowd noise, just boring commentary.
