Whilst a loan to buy looks to be the sensible option - see George Hirst - that must impact other potential deals given the maximum loans in a matchday squad. They're not going to bring in the Palace winger and Newcastle midfielder for example to go with all the others... I can't see that we've been linked with any other cash buys aside the 2 foreigners. The time is ticking...

The deal hasn’t even been announced officially yet and likely will be in instalments so not exactly going to get 18m up front.

How many times?

Not exactly going to be paying it all up front for any purchases either!

“Okay, everyone. Last year, we struggled with the loan-to-buy deal we tried to do with a team in a different division on Deadline Day and caught a lot of flack for messing it up, so let’s change tack this year: same deal structure, but it’s a team in a different country.”

Rovers transfer policy. Get as many loan players In as possible then start all over again next season.  Then they can make excuses that they are having to start from scratch. No long term building just blinkered short sightedness

Let's be honest here, that bloke was broadcasting from his bedroom in his underpants and vest* last night saying it wasn't on.

So let's not take everything he says as gospel.

*I may have exaggerated about his attire.

You lot really are a bunch of miserable bastards.

Loan to buy makes more sense anyway as we aren’t spunking £4mil on a unproven MLS striker.  So rather than moaning be happy the deals back on!!

It's the principal of it, making £20m+ and only doing loans.

But yes, certainly happy the deal is back on.

There in lies the issue of low standards. The prospect of a humiliating mid flight end to the deal means that anyone questioning the likelihood of none of an 18m+ windfall will be reinvested this window is dismissed as moaning.

No just spunking a hefty loan fee on someone for 4 months with no ROI...
