Far more players in the box than a decade ago? Not sure about that, but there’s a hell of a lot more punching, even when unchallenged, which is strange as surely the ‘data’ tells them that punching a ball five yards is riskier than just catching the bloody thing.

Modern balls are lighter and move around in the air more.

No longer a sodden leather lump going straight through the air.

You telling me that an unchallenged professional goalkeeper should be punching a floated in cross?

Today's was shag all to do with ball and everything to with utter lazy keeper. I'd of got down quicker.

Wahlstedt would not have got near the first team at Rovers not that many years ago. Even Alan Fettis was better. His mistakes are schoolboy level and it’s beyond ridiculous that we actually paid money for him.

We don't seem to have a decent keeper in the club. Mercer has banged on about the goalkeeper coaching staff for some time looks like he is right.

I was hopeful of some improvement on Leo a few weeks back, but alas he looks a mile off at the moment, as does the other bloke.

You can get away with punts from Norway, Holland and the like for outfield players, you’ve nowhere to hide as a keeper. It can work out obviously; TK, but it’s a gamble.

All goes back to the mess of this club again, when was the last time we brought in an experienced keeper from English football?

My point was to go from Friedel to Robinson was a big signal of decline..

To be fair it looked a decent signing at the time, he’d spent a few years as England’s number 1 and was only about 30. No Brad, but who was? 

It’s only since this shower arrived that we’ve seen standards go through the floor.

Three ex Rovers keepers who were slagged off on here at various times, all holding their own in the Prem. 

Be careful what you wish for.

Maybe, just maybe, all three have improved by being in a better working environment (better coaching, a board with ambition etc etc)

There's only so much you can do when you're at somewhere with absolutely no ambition. You need at least some pressure to be able to perform well constantly.

Simply down to recruitment.

I'm no expert, but shouldn't it be a routine catch when there's nobody challenging you for the ball?

Yep there must be far better keepers than those two in the Lower Leagues.

Also hard to believe Hilton wouldnt be a significant upgrade on both.

Hard to believe that a lad of 24 who still can’t get a game anywhere outside the academy is not significantly better?
