If he had negotiated a higher wage with us than his Orlando one, or any bonuses/fees etc, we could be liable to pay those as he wasn't at fault. Loss of earnings and all that.

I imagine (but don’t know) that any contract he signed with us was subject to EFL approving the transfer.

No contract = no liability

JDT bought his way out of his contract.

I very much doubt he actually did at all besides that means nothing when it comes to NDA's.

Article in Lancs Telegraph saying there is budget and that we will spend.

I think we will have money to spend on Transfer budget its won't above £7m in my opinion.

Sam Barnes being released according to Jackson

shame on him. Look a very good young player when coming through the youth day but 2 bad injuries have put pay to that. Hopefully finds a good club where he can play regular football

Jackson is purely guessing but we certainly wont spend above £7m, that is a very safe bet.

Is it?

They've run off JDT and Broughton with zero budget in 3 transfer windows (something like £20m in the black). It would be peak Venky's to give Eustace and Waggott £7m to spend.

At this point 7m is nowhere near enough to plug the gaps and be a mid table side.

Agreed, needs £10m+ for mid-table, on the face of it. We might get lucky with some historically under-performing players stepping up, but I currently struggle to believe that.

Would be very Rovers for Sigurdsson (with a year left on his deal) to have a mega season next season.

It was a wasted oppurtunity, sadly.

I think even for that money you can 5 quality players plus look a couple of quality loans..

The main areas we need to strengthen for me are goalscorer striker, right winger and Keeper plus a back up right back, another striker, centre back, and replacement for Szmodics if he does leave.

I would ask Villa for Chrisene back for another season loan.

In centre midfield I think we look strong in there with Tronstad, JRC, Buckley, Travis and Garrett.

I would try and get something for Bucko and let Garrett out on loan to a top League One side, and get someone in to compete with JRC who's a bit too injury prone unfortunately.

Striker, GK and a pacey winger probably must-get as well.

Here’s what I think they will do…no DOF replacement, Swag, JE and Kimberley at the helm. British signings only.

3x purchases (total £6-7m in fees)

2x Freebies

3x Loans

Keeper // Back up LB // Mcfadz // CB // CM // 2x wide forwards  // Striker

*Duru will cover Brittain and JRC at rb and Batty or Gent May cover Pickering dependant on how good a preseason they have.

I would prime Gilsenen to play too.

Plus a replacement for SS if he goes and I’m not sure anyone will stump up the £15m for him. Hope they don’t.

I agree mainly British based signings or players who have played in UK before.

I would look at League 1 for couple of players like Harvey Knibbs.

Deffo need a goalscorer striker and Number 1 keeper signings plus right winger

Would Eustace still be head coach then? or "upgraded" to manager?

Rovers would need to adress that.

Deciding to have only one senior player in any position based on the youngsters performances in pre season is incredibly flawed. Pre season is all about fitness, the games are uncompetitive and often against lower league opposition. We saw 2 years ago that Vale scored a few in pre season and he turned out to be nowhere near good enough. To a lesser extent Leonard played much of pre season last season but wasnt ready to play as much as he did.

Its also very limiting to just rule out signings from abroad as you are then fishing in a very small and crowded pond. Youve obviously got to do due diligence as weve recently signed players like Telalovic from very poor levels, but it shouldnt be "British signings only" as a strict rule. It doesnt help having to wait for our terrible owners to communicate a budget allowing other teams to steal a march.

Talk of £7m being spent seems beyond unrealistic at this stage.

They don’t give a fuck mate. They tried the DOF thing…it looks like JDT and GB have been made the scapegoats. I don’t reckon anyone forgot to press the submit button on McGuire either.

Swag et al, decided mid Jan that JDT and GB were not the answer. Swag tapped up JE, negotiated JDT out and brought in JE, Mcfadz and Fleck behind GB’s back.

Q - If you were going to fire your manager and DOF, would you press the button on a £3m purchase at Christmas on a player the new gaffer might not like or pull the plug and offer the cash to the incoming manager to spend the following summer? 👀

Have you Duru or Gent play?

Why is £7m is unrealistic?.

How many signings do we need? Positions aswell please?
