Ruddy is a target according to Nicko

Thats already been rubbished by the Lancashire Telegraph.

Seems like a lazy Eustace based link. Wouldnt be a good signing so lets hope not.

He is now. What he did 5 seasons ago is irrelevant. He didn’t even look like missing chances last season, never mind scoring goals.

He had a bad season and wasnt great to begin with but he isnt one of the worst strikers to ever wear the shirt.

Aaron Connelly is a must sign for me this window, would be a class above what we have up top.

Hes hardly prolific and comes with a reputation as a bit of a tear away with questions as to his weight etc.

Have a feeling Sean Kimberley will get the role as DOF.

What makes you say this?

Do you not think the whole point of getting rid GB was to better DoF and with experience of doing the role beforehand

Oh well. If LT rubbish then it must be true.

Nixon was spot on Silvester going, Baker coming in, GB leaving. He has said GB will be replace so let's wait and what happens shortly.

Is he better than we got?

Where is this suggestion he is abit of a tear away and questions as to his weight?

That's what we want to happen, Chaddy, but do you really believe that is what will actually happen?

From what Jackson has said, we have no immediate plans to replace Broughton.

It's more about him being out of Waggott's way and us muddling through.

Nixon has said we will replace him. Given he has spot on with Silvester going, Baker in(both part of his story at the time) reported GB was leaving more than a week before we announce it.

Let's see if it happens.

Yes, but he's also unsure about the replacement, so evidently nothing is imminent.

Theyve also released Gibson and Giannolous.

If nothing else I think the evidence is there that our squad could be improved with little or no money (at least in terms of transfer fees)

Some good players available if our recruitment team do their job

Gottalove nickoteens

I’m no “Nickoteen”, just making the point that what Nixon is saying essentially corroborates what Jackson has reported, ie nothing doing.

Will Waggott want another pesky DOF disturbing his cosy little empire?

Nixon can say what he likes, he’s not paying the wages and he won’t be appointing the successor to Broughton.

Makes me laugh how many people bang on as they know what they’re talking about with Nixon.

Coming from a guy he blocked years ago, so I’m certainly NOT a Nickoteen (whatever those are) - but Nixon has probably been right on us more than anyone else in the last 12-18 months.

There are actually some really good free agents coming (or already) available, some will require a decent wage which will probably rule us out... but there are plenty i'd take that'd make a huge difference to our squad without paying transfer fees.

To name a few...
Josh Bowler
Sorba Thomas
Max Lowe
Wes Foderingham
Herbie Kane
Aaron Connolly
Tyrese Campbell
Paddy McNair
Chris Willock
Sam McCallum
Jake Cooper
Josh Onomah

We'll be probably be looking at who ever the free agents are on the next rung or two down from that lot.

I agree! But i still just don't understand why he went that route to begin with by hiring Broughton  and switching to a dof model in the first place!?

Was it not waggots decision to go the route. Was the decision made for him? Who made the decision to hire gb as dof?

I agree there.

Exactly Nixon. He has spot on with 3 bits of info in the last 3 weeks.

Would fully agree, however...

He's been on over £20k a week at Hull... highly doubt he'd be willing to take a huge wage cut to come here.

He'll end up somewhere that will give him around the same as Hull, clubs like Middlesbrough/Norwich/Watford spring to mind.

Same wage at Gally?

I know who I'd rather have.

The (possibly) ITKs have said in the past that the decision to go DoF came from above Waggott. No surprise, can't imagine him wanting anyone who might reduce his own power.

It wasn't his decision. Venky's appointed a football consultancy to advise the best way forward. They recommended a DOF approach and a recruitment consultancy was appointed to find a DOF.

Sunish and Waggot were not involved on either decision and hence Waggot always resented Broughton being appointed and did everything possible to undermine him.

Probably because we have repeatedly shown a preference to promote from within in recent years to save money.
