A quick YouTube of Todd Cantwell and you can see shorts of him saying he has thought about quitting football altogether. Calling Chris Sutton an attention seeker and saying he felt unappreciated (I think that was the right word) at Norwich. He's a talented player. Actually more robust than I gave him credit for. It's a name and a bit of a coup on paper. But I have got an alarm sounding deep inside my addled brain.

He's not wrong about Chris Sutton...

If the owners are willing to chance the wage being spent on Cantwell so be it. It’s not like they are going to spend it on others. An opportunity has come up for an investment and the club is taking it. After the money we have brought in us fans deserve another asset added to the squad. Some comments acting like they are paying his wage themselves

If Cantwell doesn't have medical today then signing not happening.

With only 2 days left of window, you process the signings as quickly as possible not only to keep the decks clear for the next one but to stop any possible hijacking of player.

We’ve never learnt anything from the Roy Keane debacle.

It won't be a million miles away from Gally's wage I'd reckon. Cheap fee in context.  Talented lad - just questions over whether his head's in the game.

Type of signing we always used to gamble on.  No grumbles here if it comes off.

Reminds me very much of Bentley.  Talented but out of love with the game.  Rejuvenated his career with us. Regressed when he left.

Sometimes better to be the big fish in a small pond.

Mercer says it's not happening. Which as we all know means it is happening.

In front of a crowd that will tut rather than threaten bodily harm if you miscontrol a ball.

Of course there’s the issue of how it goes down with the rest of the squad. If he gets his head down and does the business it’ll be ok. If he doesn’t, we could have problems.

Nah, bunch of soft lads in that changing room. They won't do anything.

Cantwell is completely different to Szmodics or Dack. Will improve us no end in possession, so good in tight spaces with both feet. Seems to cover a lot of ground, drops deep for the ball then breaks the lines in midfield by travelling with the ball.

Although there will be an expectation of him to contribute G/A , I think he plays a bit deeper than that.

He is a quality footballer, head and shoulders above the rest of the squad ability wise. I personally think he will be box office to watch down at Ewood. We seem to have, over the years, developed an ability of getting the very best out of players who join the club.

I think at 26/27 he’s got a real point to prove in English football. Probably over the next couple of years will be his last chance of making it in the PL.

My prediction: he gets flogged for 5-10 million next summer to a PL side after a good season.

He's a top player therefore I don't see it happening. Cantwell and Duberry would turn us into a very good team.

Is anyone else concerned by how much Alan Nixon suddenly knows about our transfer dealings?

Names and faces change, 'new model' introduced, transfer receipts through the roof yet still got Liverpool and Brighton on speed dial in the last days of the window hoping they'll send us a cheap kid or two.

That was always going to be the case. Don’t mind loaning players from them at all.
