v Stockport County (a) - 13/8/24 - Carabao Cup

Recommended Posts

I feel there is something going on with Siggy- scuttlebutt, rumors of a deal in the works, etc?

If he ever gets fit, he would be a decent goal scorer, imo. But, I’m sure his wages must be high, & others have been brought in.

The thing I will always credit jdt for is the fact he took the cup seriously, after years of its neglect especially from Mowbray losing to Lower league teams regularly even not bothering against Burnley it was refreshing to see us going for it, no defeats to lower opposition. Would like eustuce to maintain a good attitude for it especially given we are unlikely gonna challenge for promotion so why not a good cup run ? League cup 1st two rounds are a bit meh cause you don’t tend to get exciting draws but get through them and we may get a big team down in the 3rd round

Yeah and big plans to come. Plans for a 20k stadium in motion and redoing 3 of the stands - the first being the open Railway End which is just shit - apologies if you end up there for the game. We rent Carrington currently, which is great, but the owner wants to build our training ground in Stockport. We seem to be doing the right things in the community and trying to rebuild the youth setup too. That gives me hope we'll become semi-sustainable as currently we're spending an awful lot to invest. Fan support is on the up too though and we capped out at 6,500 season tickets this season.

Championship in 7 years was the goal when Stott took over in the National League (though a lot of the groundwork was laid by Jim Gannon getting us out of regional football in the NLN). It's now Championship in three years. It's doable but this will be the biggest challenge yet. Personally, I'm just trying to enjoy the journey after 3 relegations in 4 seasons, administration and opening day away trips to Spennymoor or facing (and losing to) Bradford Park Avenue, Vauxhall Motors etc.

when you starting the ground developments ?

What was our ticket allocation for tonight?

Iv'e seen 500 to 1250 mentioned but nobody seems to know although i always thought the away section there was about 3k.

Hard to know if there was a surprisingly big demand or our club as often the case has scrimped for the smallest allocation possible.

RoversTV works abroad (from vast experience over here!)

There is a subscription but the quality is usually pretty good and shows all Rovs games (bar cup games). Commentators are horrendous though.

Does it work for Carabao cup games though?  I thought it was League matches only?

Edit - as the previous poster was asking for tonight's game specifically

Do agree that a subscription to Rovers TV is great value though, despite the commentary team

Yes, I am not a fan of the commentary on Rovers TV.  They use tired clichés, do not seem to add any insight, and once had a 20 minute discussion about Jaffa cakes in the middle of a game

Are they not biscuits? Hence they’re sold in the biscuit section?

Curious.

Having watched us play every other team in the division our commentary team is definitely in the top 3.

I cant say anything for the commentary teams of  any other clubs, and having read your comment, I would never want to 😉

Edit - This isn't a gotcha, but why are you listening to every other clubs commentary rather than Rovers own one if you think our commentary are in the top 3?  Genuinely interested 🙂
