Personally I don't mind him and think he's a useful squad player (don't think his goal contribution numbers are any better than Ty's though). Cantwell, Beck, Carter (at CB)  and maybe Tronstadt a apart, there isn't one other player that you could call first team standard.  The rest you'd accept as squad fillers.  Pears, Pickering, Hyam, Baath, Brittain, Travis, Buckley, Hedges, Dolan, Sigurdsson, JRC  Weiman, Ohashi, Gueye and Leonard are all in that category.  You can carry 2 or 3 in the first team but our first team has 8/9.  The squad is absolutely bereft of quality. 

And it won't improve in the January window.

Some of them are pushing it to be squad player worthy. And also there is such an imbalance to them. No competent striker, no one with any pace.

I think you can 'carry' (I'd call it 'afford') a bit more than that, but fundamentally I agree. If you want top 6 I suppose those numbers are more accurate though.

Think we could potentially get away with the current lot and be top 6 if we just had 2 more players of true quality. Gimme Johansson from Stoke and a Sammie Szmodics of last season and I'd say top 6 is doable with the right manager and system. A couple of true match winners.

The squad players you mention are capable of being proper regular starters...in spurts. None of them has demonstrated enough consistency and probably never will, to fit in with as you say, Beck, Tronstad, Cantwell and Carter. Personally I think Travis isn't too far off that list, but he does have little patches of being shit. But yeh when the others are in form they're good enough, it just isn't often enough. And you could say it about most players in this division who aren't regulars in the best 8 or so teams.

Our issues are the attack and goalkeeper position. Both are League 1 standard. The rest of the team and squad are more than adequate for bottom 6 championship team, which is where our budget is at.

he`s out of contract in the summer,peterborough could sell in january for a nice fee,however,our complete lack of competence and ambition will again mean he`ll go somewhere else,i`ll be amazed if he ends up here

Good post. Agree with the gist of this but not sure all of those are of squad filler standard. Britain, Pears, Gueye and Hedges definitely aren't! Leonard I don't think we've seen enough of to know either way, likewise Baath. Siggy and Buckley I think have the talent to be squad players but need to show more consistency to warrant a wage here. 

You are spot on though that so many players are being asked to do a role which is too much for them. 

To paraphrase a famous quote from here "buy league one players, get league oen football."

It is true though. Without the quality of players you have no chance. The base line is that’s its really down to them.
