Do you think we’d look at bringing in Louie Barry? There’s talk of his loan being ended at Stockport early and him going on loan to a championship club. We had a loan from Villa last year so we possibly have a relationship with them.

Aaaaand…. I didn’t see your last post when I quoted your earlier one lol.

What was the Nixon news this morning?

Sod a striker, we need pace out wide. Someone to pair with ACD / Beck (if they're going to go that route) and provide service for Ohashi and Gueye.

Another young Irish winger, son of the former manager of ROI

Looks to be a non scoring striker to add to our collection, rather than a winger/wide player

3 goals in 30 games (all as a central striker) this season.  Granted that many of those appearances were as sub and he is still a teenager

To be honest, I don't know enough about the player and whether he is ready for Championship football. Other Championship teams are interested so they think he is. 13 goals this season suggest it's someone we should be looking at.

I feel we need a striker, winger and centre back in January but who we should sign I honestly don't know

I doubt we will have any money in January so it will be difficult to strengthen.

Eustace wants a striker, he said as such recently. Gestede signed a donkey last time he tried to address that, but would we be willing and able to try and move Gueye on, would our main summer signing just become 3rd choice if not, and would Gestede be able to sign anyone with any use with potentially less money than he signed Gueye with?

Didn't the transfer committee approval us signing Gueye?

Surely we do what is best for team not Gestede?

I'm not convinced that providing service would be enough to get a tune out of Gueye.

I would play Gueye in the U21s to see how he does at that level. If he merits a first team squad place then fine. If he doesn't get rid in the summer. There isn't a team in the world where every signing is a success. But the more successful clubs react quickly, and don't persevere with a lost cause.

Gestede was supposed to have "knowledge of the French and Belgian markets" so I expect that Gueye was his recommendation.

We made signings via transfer committee. Our team should have knowledge all round the world

Although tbf, those lost causes do sometimes come good. Brereton being everyone's favourite example. But personally yes, I'd see if he can start scoring goals and regain confidence in the U21s, and if he struggles there too he needs to go in the bin.

In fairness, we did get rid of Telalovic, Ennis and Wahlstedt pretty quickly.

I don't think Gueye will be here past next summer. Absolute shocker.

He's streets better than what we have at the moment.

Presumably it would only be a loan and it would be reliant on Southampton paying nearly all his wages though.

The fan I spoke to had no info it was going to happen, or even being considered, just that the fans there don't rate Brereton and want rid .....

That's a good point - one thing BBD always had/has is intelligent runs between the lines.

Wharton found him numerous times in a way that I think Cantwell would do.

Not sure I can see it happening, but it would be one that would make sense.

Problem was 9 out of 10 times Brereron would be offside.  He was good during his purple patch bang average to poor out if it.

He needs to be backed. He's done a fine job so far. We can't have another jdt situation

They will support Eustace, making his game day team selection easier by getting rid of some of our quality players and not replacing with like or better.

It's OK, I know it was only theoretical and even if the player and Eustace were interested I can't see Waggott/Pasha/Venky's being ambitious enough to go for it.

If we're looking at a lad from Dundalk with a scoring record of 3 from 30 we're obviously scavenging right at the very bottom of the bargain bin.
