January Transfer window

We have to see what is available in the January market. I seen Nicko comments but I hope we can spend some money on a striker or wide player. Could be the different between a playoff place and not. Finding a quality striker is hard enough with money. I think Riis from PNE would be decent enough and an improve on Gueye.

i agree on riis,i think he`s  a fine player, though i very much doubt pne will sell him to us

Maybe the reasons why he has picked up this season is a change of manager and his form dipped down to Lowe and how he was played. Heckingbottom is playing to his strengths finally

I worked with a number of PNE STH all rated him and said he is quality player.

Perhaps, either way, hes not coming here for £1m for 2 main reasons. They wouldnt sell and we wouldnt have that to spend.

And it doesnt take detective Nixon to realise that we almost certainly wont be spending any 7 seven figure fees in January. Venkys have no interest in what happens in the rest of the season.

Won’t be long until Eustace becomes disillusioned and gets on the blower to his agent.

They let go the guy who suggested our best two signings and kept the one who suggested the worst?

Venkys/SW in a nutshell 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Nixon said Park pushed for Cantwell and Beck.Beyond doubt our 2 best signings in the summer

Nixon is also good at spouting shit on behalf of his mates. If he is close to Park (hence the supposed improved information this summer) then he’ll just be doing his best to paint his mate in a good light.

Not saying it’s not true. I just don’t trust the source.

I wonder if his agent would advise him to look around at potential openings at clubs who genuinely want to get promoted.

If he left now with us in 6th but unlikely to sustain it due to the squad, off the back of being sacked in 6th at Birmingham which was widely regarded as unfair, his reputation at this level would be particularly strong.

His stock is definitely high, but for now there are no openings.

He was seemingly on the fringes for the Coventry and Hull jobs, so I was relieved when they appointed other candidates.

Nixon also reckons it will be loans in January.Apparently the Szmodic,Raya and Wharton money has gone on paying wages.

Also said Gestede seems to be good at boardroom politics. Said he was behind the Gueye signing whilst Beck and Cantwell were pushed by Park.

So what's the plan when that money runs out?

He is out of contract in the summer so they have decision to make whether to sell or keep.

Well Brighton have done alright. Could be good.

Apparently though, the guy from Brighton left because they also wanted to go more down the data driven route.

If that's the case , and Rovers are looking at the same policy, why would he come here ?

That’s a very good point and a lesson to not believe something just because it sounds plausible.

No idea. Anyway, most things about Rovers never happen so I'm not bothered. It'll be someone else tomorrow we're interested in.

Nixons story today is the club are arguing over who to appoint as the new chief scout.

Gestede wants a French or German head scout whilst others at the club have been talking with John Doolan who recently left Brighton

Gestede can fuck off then.

Option 3.

There's a reason John Park left and he seemed a man capable for sourcing decent loans so i wouldn't be expecting much at all.

Best thing that can happen is if Eustace has had some lads scouted and puts them forward first.

Anybody seen David Lowe recently ?

I view Park’s departure as bad news, as he appears to be well connected and a competent individual who can bring in good players.

I have little faith in Gestede, and it’s a shame he won the latest power struggle.

On Eustace leaving... Let's not forget how he was treated at Brum. He talks very positively about his position here and everyone is on his side. He's a seemingly very realistic and pragmatic guy. He's not going to be leaving for many other clubs in the championship because so many are so similar. Hull potted Rosenior for finishing 7th! It's not a good look to potential new managers. Who in a relatively stable job fighting at the higher end of the table is going to leave for any of the clubs below them? If he was to leave I'm sure he would only want a job at club above or around us in the league and I just don't see that happening.

Lowe has been shunted to effectively become a scout. I saw him at Ewood the night before Plymouth away and asked him why he wasn't down there. He said he was going to Swansea the following day to do a report on them as we were playing them a week or two later. I understand he does that for every game but although he isn't involved with the team on match days he is still coaching during the week at Brockhall.

I think he is the best manager we have had, since the takeover from Hell...

We were saying the same about JDT and he brought something different and a change of mentality after the previous few years but that turned to shit.  Eustace clearly has the best grip on this league and how to rinse what you have to best effect but ultimately even that will crumble if his squad isn't given proper help in the mid season window.

And we've seen several times over what happens once a gaffer gets fed up here.
