January Transfer window

The Andy Bayes interview is bizarre, it has clarified that Eustace is "head coach not manager". I can with a degree of confidence assume that means he recommends players but it is then up to the fuckwits upstairs to agree then sign said players or generally sign who they want.

I'm not sure why anybody would want to be head coach here, as every January when it's somebody else's job to back us we fall apart.

It is usually even worse: the head coach identifies positions to strengthen and perhaps certain attributes.

The DOF and receuitment team compile list of targets whilst looking for other positions in case someone is available that they think would be an asset to the club.

At best the Head Coach gets asked about the names on the list and in some instances may have a veto or say in preferred targets

MarkBRFC is correct. You have to submit your squad of 25 players or less. Any player over 21's must be register, any player on loan must be regardless of age and for example Leonard or Tyjon doesn't cos of aged 21 or under..

OK- so lack of availability of squad places isn't an excuse then.

This was discussed a week or so ago but as you now seem to be latching onto it as a belated excuse, according to Mark BRFC you resubmit your 25 man squad at the end of the January window.

I have no idea if that is correct or not but if it is then it's no excuse - you can sign who you want and leave out whoever you want.

A squad list can be changed (both adding or removing a player) as many times as a club wants during a transfer window.

So if we had 26 players at some point during January we could literally pick which one isn’t on our list on a match by match basis.

The final squad list must then be submitted within 24 hours of the window closing.

I can't read most LT articles online due to the firewall but having just seen an article on FLW it appears Eustace said something like:

"Of course we WANT to bring quality in but if we don't, the lads have been great this season andwe won't let anyone down".

IF that's an accurate representation of what he said, it's not looking very promising.

Time to ramp up the pressure on Waggott inside the ground. He didn't like it last time it happened.

Most informative.

Thanks.

Time to ramp up the pressure on the owners and direct any banners...chants...protests towards them

Waggott would just be replaced by another person of similar ilk

Point being, you have faith in the club strengthening adequately. You said thats because of Eustace. You have an example from the summer of him NOT getting what he wants yet still have faith anyway. You are tieing yourself in knots to kid yourself into thinking that everything is ok.

We shouldnt avoid strengthening important areas like midfield and left back (you said left back too) out of obligation to register crap like Sigurdsson who offer nothing. It could force their hand to seek a new club.

The summer budget was done via transfer committee whilst this window given Gestede's public comments, they present Eustace was 3 to 5 players shortlist and he picked the one he wants. Different situation.

You clearly didnt know about the rules about squad registration and tied yourself in knots. So we can get 3 players in if we sell/leave out Sigurdsson so which 2 position do you not sign players for cos you want a left back, centre midfielder, 2 wingers and striker so which will it be please? Thanks for answering the question in advance?

You got 2 free spaces maybe 3 if Sigurdsson leaves

Or leave other players that ain't good enough out of the squad

Like for example Forshaw, right fair enough a cheap signing who we could get that would be brought on to see out games etc or if he proved himself to be better than Buckley then fill in for Travis

But with both first choice midfielders out a club set on promotion would invest in that area on better quality and leave forshaw out or look to loan or sell Buckley.

Eustace doesn't see JRC as a central midfielder and if he is going to favour Sanderson or Carter at rb when Brittain is out/ need a rest then Jrc could be loaned/sold not given a space in squad if the club had ambition and where willing to spend a little money on putting together a squad that can sustain the good start of the season

1st part - going to have limited effect on them sat back in India.

2nd part - I'd take that for starters.

This is where he differs from JDT.

In public, he tows the party line.

In private I’m sure he speaks very differently.

'I'm confident because quite frankly, if Steve doesn't deliver a halfway decent couple of attackers by the end of the window, I'm gonna headbutt his nose to dust, and he's been told.'

What difference would it make ti Waggott? He's not going to quit and venkys won't sack him.

Yeah can't wait for Mr work experience Rudy to take over or maybe they will aim higher and bring Derek Shaw back

I’m sure he was very candid and forthcoming about it all.

For reference - my comment is about how it works with a head coach. Clubs are starting to catch on to the continental way of having a “system”, recruiting players for said system and even coaches being chosen because they align with said system (making Man United’s current crisis even funnier)

But yes - I’m sure that JE saw a list of strikers in the summer and said Ohashi and Gueye are who I want…

🙄

Lots of talk about processes and committees. It almost sounds professional.

What happens then when the 'committee' (whoever they are and however they are qualified) agrees on a target, makes a bid, gets it accepted, speaks to the player/agent, eventually agrees personal terms, player comes to Brockhall, has the guided tour, puts on  a Rovers shirt, has his photos taken, club media plaster the news all over social media, then it all comes crashing down because the rancid ones won't provide their authorisation (or if you believe the bullshit version someone 'forgets' to press submit)

Not very professional after all. Infact the sort of thing I wouldn't even expect in my local amateur cricket league where people can barely even use a computer yet still remember to submit applications and press send.

The problem with that is, as unprofessional as the Committe might be, I can't see even  them (and Broughton before them) being stupid enough to go through steps 1-10 WITHOUT bothering to ask for authorisation first.

Do you still have faith in us signing the quality and quantity we need, factoring in that Eustace does not always decide on who we sign? And have you now given up on a left back?

How have I tied myself in knots? Ive said what I would do. Not register players that are not good enough. Say we sign 4, tell Sigurdsson now if he stays he wont be registered. Players like Hedges, Forshaw, Hilton, any of them can be left out. But ideally shed one or two before the window closes. Dolan could be one to be let go.

I've had the impression from various murmurings in various windows that the owners insist on final authorisation at the end of the process. So I don't think you can rely on getting approval before steps 1-10 and it not changing again at the end.
