Hedges is absolutely terrible, terrified to cross the ball.

Dolan is also pretty shit, but at least he isn't afraid to cross the ball.

Cantwell - jury out for me, lightweight, loses the ball a lot, expensive, not sure what he adds - he's no Dack who played in the same position.

Foreshaw - embarrassing signing.

Apart from the bit where you allege Broughton had nous I entirely agree. Great post.

(After the permanent deal for Mcguire was pulled he did negotiate a cracking loan deal with an option to purchase for about £7m though)

I think Broughton did pretty well with the hand he got dealt, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

How anyone achieves anything of note under these wretches blows my mind.

What's worrying me as much as the lack of incomings is the absence of any rumblings about player contracts. Has any first-team player extended since Broughton left?

It's always an early symptom of the current state of play at Rovers. No contract renewals equals no money. Joining those dots is a far more reliable source than any 'journalists' like Nixon.

come one then, what have we got left:
Toth
RB: ??? anyone fancy it ?
dion
Hyam
Beck
Guess we dont have enough players for a right back... good start

Buckley Forshaw
  Dolan  Cantwell Duberry
            Gueye

Leonard
Weimann
Hedges

Guess Hedges slots into right back? just throwing a name there tbh, maybe he can play half ok in that position, because he isnt a winger.
Leonard and Weiman arent subs, its just showing whats left in numbers if you were to put what names are fit on a sheet. Looks pretty depressing for options.

If I had to throw a team together out of that for Saturday think I would go:

Hedges dion Hyam beck
        buckley cantwell
Weiman Leonard Dubbery
                Gueye

And I wouldnt sit as I dont think we have the personal for it. It still gets beat either way lol!

currently out:
Pears
Britain
JRC ?
Mcfadzean - GONE
Garrett - going
Bath ?
Pickering
Duru - ON LOAN - great timing
Siggy - sick note, smoking cigars chilling
Trav
tronstad
Yuki

So to clarify, we started sniffing around Coventry players, they beat us with one of those players scoring and are now outbidding us for our other supposed targets?

No need to worry down at Ewood - we’ll have Cov’s cast-offs before the deadline is up for a fraction of the price.

Any contract renewal for a senior or established player is going to require a pay rise, commitment to a Championship level salary, probably some sort of signing fee, additional bonuses and a commitment beyond the time of the current deal, probably of at least another couple of years.

This isn't on the agenda. Scumbags like Venkys and Waggott would see absolutely no reason or purpose behind doing this, as it would simply cost them more money from now onwards.

Of course anyone with any sense can see the medium to long term benefits of doing it, but they aren't into that sort of thing.

When we hear about people like Dolan 'refusing' to sign a new contract that's 'on the table' I suspect any offer, if there is one, is poor and not worth the paper it is written on, probably well below what a Championship standard player would expect. I suspect Waggott will probably get a cut of any savings made on this too. Despicable.

Maybe Coventry are doing something unheard of and trying to do more than the bare minimum to strengthen.

Hoping that Coventry choose not to bother with the 32 year old winger that we can then take would be rather depressing.

With our current situation I'd prefer Schlupp anyway, can play a variety of positions compared to Matondo

Hedges has played left back before, and is left-footed. Right back might be a stretch too far.

A few years back we actually played Buckley at right back (I think?) in a similar injury crisis and the consensus on here after the game was basically that he did surprisingly well but lets not do it again.

Dolan works hard enough that he should be able to play as a makeshift full back but we tried it once and he looked completely out of his depth.

After that I guess it's a kid from the youth teams.

Guys, new poster, but observer for sooooo long. I had the privilege of meeting Jack Walker on numerous occasions. I grew up playing for Jack’s other team in Jersey. He made me fall in love with a club with his passion and love for his hometown club. I love this club and I’ll never moan about a single player (ok I will) but this is all on them.

We need a winger that is actually solely signed to play as a winger. Well, we need 2 really. We dont need another utility man who could then play elsewhere whilst the likes of Hedges and Dolan plod up and down contributing nothing.

A thoroughly depressing messageboard after yet more injuries and failure to strengthen the team (yes I know there’s still time).

As many have said, the owners don’t seem to understand that the only way of ever getting their investments back is by investing in the squad particularly when we have a manager who is performing miracles. Had we got players lined up to sign at the beginning of January we may have taken points from games we have lost and not had to flog to death the likes of Travis, Tronstad, Baath, Brittain etc.

Rapidly getting disillusioned with the Rovers set up and the rationale for making a 100 mile round trip every home game is becoming questionable.

Come on, sort it out.

100 mile round trip for every home game that's pretty admirable 👍👏

I too am also a devout Blackburn Athletic fan and have supported the club for many, many years.  I agree this is entirely on the players.  From where I sit in Pune, sorry the Riverside, I can see their effort does not match that of our leader - Steve Waggot

Any signings yet? Anyway as much as we like to blame certain players etc most of this team isn’t here for a top 6 finish, nor good enough for a top 6 finish. They’ve been brought here to survive as that’s all the club is interested in, eustace has worked miracles without a goal scorer or decent wingers etc. Get your hand in your wallets venkys and help this man.
