The recruitment team have a choice. Look at our squad and injuries and decide to save money for this season as we're not at risk of relegation. Or decide that we can push for the playoffs so improve the squad to go for that. I think we know which one it will be.

The recruitment team are trying to compete for the playoffs with a league one budget

If we had any money do you honestly believe we would be trying for this lad from Seria B

Kargbo's contract runs out in 18 months. He's out of favour at Serie B side who are mid table... He'll be about 500k or significantly more depending on if he gets X amounts of goals or assists which he likely won't. That's my guess.

Kargbo, looks like the LW.

I’m gonna take a punt on us getting him for £1m+ and then Bamford and Danns on loan.

hmmmm 🤯

Liverpool wouldn't be happy If we loaned Danns and then loaned Bamford considering we play 1 up front

You could show someone Hedges goal at Watford and Dolan doing some stepovers and think they are worldbeaters...

Cracking soundtrack though.

Wish this lad all the best and hope he is successful but there is ZERO chance Eustace is pushing for this after all the talk of championship experience.

Bargain basement.

Hedges goal at Watford and what else?

Was just about to ask what we reckon the fee will be. Wasn't expecting it to be a lot tbf.

I'd say 500k is on the high end. I'd be expecting more like 200k with certain clauses taking it towards the 500k figure, which as you say, he likely won't.

Pretty sure now that John Park left because he was told either by Waggott/Pasha or the owners directly that no money (>1 million) will be spent in this transfer window, just like the five previous winter transfer windows before it. He probably had a few players lined up to be signed come January if he was getting backed. Don't think the recruitment team is even actively scouting at this point based on the limited budget, which is why old names/previously scouted players are popping up in the media:

Augustus Kargbo (scouted earlier in the summer; probably just some lazy work from someone watching his nicely-edited highlight reel on Youtube)

Ben Brereton Diaz (why would he return, even on loan, given he left on a free transfer and was getting booed off when his form dipped during the latter stages of his final season? he ended up on loan at Sheffield Utd which was always likely to happen given his stint there last season)

Lewis O'Brien (this is a funny one given we effed up the paperwork last time around. don't think he wants to be anywhere near us again)

I'm sure I read somewhere (likely on here) that someone posted that Venkys will now only be looking at sanctioning low fee signings, max £1m. The days of spending £6m on a Gallagher/BBD are long gone.

As the whole 25man squad has been assembled for circa £6.5m, it seems that's very much the case.

It's not sustainable and is a sure fire way to League 1.

We were told that Forshaw was signed as an attempt to save resources for the attacking positions.

If a player from Serie B who has not replicated his form in Serie C is the primary buy and we also dont bring in another midfielder then that would be a predictably sorry state.

Looks like Rovers are stepping up interest in the winger Augustas Kargbo …Think he’s a better bet then some Premier League  raw talent like Godo as we already got ACD ! Hoping it comes to fruition… IMG_6859.jpeg.77a228e4fee6217ce2519d9e19371c0b.jpeg

What’s your take on him?

I do not back the board or the regime but will back any player that puts the Rovers shirt on. Hopefully it’s another player in. It is worth a punt if more championship experience is added before window closes, if not Waggott and Co have failed miserably

It’s true about Suhail. He effectively is Venkys. Signs off everything.

From my understanding, Suhail is the link between Rovers and India.

Suhail tells SW if it's a good time to be asking Venkys for additional funding. More often than not the message is not to ask for more money as they've got a lot going on at present.

The other big concern is why are we the only club after him in the space of six-eight months?

Good luck to the lad should he arrive but I won’t be expecting much.

Maybe it's technically true. Would not even be surprised if it turned out Plymouth paid a small fee to get rid of Forshaw.

Positives about signing Kargbo IMO:

  • It won't be a temporary loan deal of a raw premier league youngster, or a short term contract
  • He appears to have a functional pair of legs, unlike Lieutenant Dan...I mean Adam Forshaw
  • In the video at least he seems to not be too afraid to run at the opposition

That aside...pretty uninspiring and unlikely to be better than anything we already have in Dolan or ACD. He would at least hopefully be able to stay match fit unlike Sigurdsson.

If he's coming in as 'the' striker then that's concerning, but as a LW it's probably as good as its going to get.

Had a feeling something would come out today

there is no way after the losses and injuries they would let it get to sat with no links and the interesting thing is Elliot saying negotiations been on going all week so not reported by any other ITK or Nixon or the likes

could well be a smokescreen but had a feeling we would hear something today

Latest LT article, quote from Eustace; “Favourites for relegation, small squad, small budget and look where we are in the league."

He's definitely being told to push that narrative - always the case once the fans start getting on the backs of the Owners, Waggott and Suhail.

We brought in over £40m in player sales, if 25% of that was invested back into the squad;

  • We wouldn't be favourites for relegation.
  • We wouldn't have a small squad.
  • We wouldn't have a small budget.
  • We'd probably be in an even better league position, with playoffs likely nailed on.

They're using Eustace as the face of their excuses, since they know the fans like and support him. What they should do is show the man some respect, realise the miracle he's managed to perform, and back him.

I honestly couldn't see Eustace pushing any narrative he wasn't comfortable with, on behalf of the club.

Unless you want to push that narrative.

Worth keeping in mind that wages demanded by Kargbo will likely be low and offset any fee paid.

Everything is pointing to no money. I suspect the cost of Sanderson's and Forshaw's wages are roughly equivalent to that saved on Baker. We're also seeing zero contract renewals.

Other recruitment will be deadline day loans, negotiating the lowest possible financial outlay by pointing out any Prem youngsters coming in are likely to see plenty of game time.

Not a pot to piss in.
