With the Szmodics sale, didn’t Nixon confirm one of the add-ons was a set fee for each goal or number of goals scored for Ipswich?

For example, £100k for every 10 goals scored.

I don't think it made any difference that Sharpe was a Rovers fan, he wasn't prepared to bite the hand that fed him either. Understandably so I suppose but no use to supporters if you want a "critical friend" in the media.

From my understanding, the owners don’t have any specific, direct involvement. Rovers are essentially a P&L on a spreadsheet and Suhail is their representative. He’s the only one with direct access and is the one and only person with power.

The directors fulfil their roles in line with the legal and vocational requirement and present it to him. One point of contact and then a yes or a no.

This explains why none of the managers ever go out to see them anymore. Uncle Tony managed to woo them into the AA and in particular the BBD signing. Suhail, by all accounts is extremely un-emotive in his role. There’s no one getting excited in December because we’re 5th, and deciding to rip up the budget and spend to get us up. It’s cold and robotic. You’re unlikely to ever get sacked on the staff, but you won’t get a pay rise or progression opportunity either - hence why all the best staff are leaving.

We need a change. 100%

Really hope there are a couple of near-done deals that we don't know about, there are 10 days left of the bloody window and our squad is looking horrendous right now.

The game with Bristol tomorrow is practically a write-off, i'm struggling to select an XI who might actually be able to compete - we needed players weeks ago.

It's unforgiveable this, every time we're in a promising position they screw it up. Eustace will likely call it quits at the end of the season if we miss out on playoffs as a result of this, that'll really sting.

Explains a lot, particularly the poor staff retention and probably the Mcguire/O Brien debacles as well.

Elliott we aren't dumb. We sold him for £8m, reinvest the fucking money and we wouldn't have this fucking issue.

All the excuses, sob stories, tales of woe, it's not fair, what more can we do?

Conveniently it ignores two important factors. One being that we brought in a huge amount of money and profit in selling Szmodics to Ipswich, money that could, if our disgusting owners had an ounce of interest, have allowed us to sign 2-3 quality signings who might have filled that void. Instead their financial shenanigans and decisions have forced us to dip in the bargain bucket, again.

The second factor is that it is absolutely clear that Rovers actively wanted a Szmodics sale. They invited it and made little-no effort to stop it. Just like with the other sales e.g. Adam Wharton, We were not reluctant sellers like some ambitious Championship clubs would be, we couldn't wait to get him out, so that removes any right we have to turn around 6 months later and complain about the consequences or difficulties.

If we had been absolutely desperate to keep him and done everything possible to do so I might have some degree of sympathy. But instead it was a pursued sale to pay the owners' bills.

No way was Brereton a Mowbray signing imo ,he might have convinced venkys to spend a bit but I don't believe it was Mowbray that chose and pushed for Brereton to come in.Im going off how Mowbray spoke of his signing at the time and how he used Brereton in his first couple of seasons

You would presume that would be someone who had the title "Head of Recruitment" (or similar)

But, that person left without being replaced a month before the window opened.

They signed Ryan Giles yesterday aswell 

Rumours they will sell Latth but at least they are getting players In beforehand and will sign a striker if he does go

Yup! After selling Isiah Jones for about £4.5m, just two weeks later they're reinvesting the full amount plus an extra third on an upgrade.

How naïve of them - they need their old pal Rudy to remind them they don't get all of the money from sales in one go... that's only the case when you want buy someone! Right?
