Think that was arguably Travis’ best ever performance for us today. Quality.

Great win today to get off the mark away from home after very poor away form so far. We did very well to get to 2 nil then a mixture of tiredness and a moment of stupidity let them back into it, although that goal felt like it was coming anyway. Lose today and our start to the season becomes very underwhelming with the relegation battle coming into view.

The first 2 goals were brilliantly worked, especially the first. Travis was outstanding and him and Tronstad are a very nice pairing. 

Pears made a few saves you would expext him to make, a few good claims, acted like a dick (not a complaint as its in our favour) with timewasting and whilst unfortunate with the penalty, he does have a tendency to palm shots back into danger. He did it against Sheffield United and has done it many times before. But he had a solid game today.

The defence in the main again was solid and the team is well organised. Batth made one terrible pass and Brittain is awful at one on one defending and stopping crosses, but we deal with balls into the box well. Pickering is an excellent second choice left back and Hyam has done well this season and not got the credit he deserves.

The attack still feels like the issue. Cantwell didnt have a particularly good game but the side looks to have much more of a balance to it with our best player central and getting on the ball so he has to stay there. Weimann doesnt have the legs anymore to play regularly but you dont lose a goalscoring instinct.

Hedges again was very poor and needs dropping and ultimately moving on. Ohashi wasnt as ineffective as usual but he isnt the most gifted in any sense, technically things often bobble away and physically he lacks pace and strength and he doesnt really look like scoring at the moment. Still a better option than the clown who came on. Hopefully ACD will be fit to start the next game to give us more pace.

Only been to 3 games in last 5 years due to COVID and other life circumstances. 2-1 away at Stoke in 2019. 3-1 away at Swansea and now today! Feels like I'm the opposite of JimMk2 😀.

Not sure what game people were watching saying hedges was poor...he had a brilliant first half (the best we've seen him) and slowly faded away second, but so did a lot.

His link up play with Ohashi and Cantwell is what we need to see more of.

To be fair to him later on he started to come and claim the crosses. Penalty saves always a lottery but maybe could have done better? Difficult to see from other enc of the ground.

It was the Travis that first burst on the scene. He seems to have a manager who now gets the best out of him.

He remains a liability and isn't good enough to be a top-half Championship number 1 - see Viktor Johansson for an example of what is.

Pears was excellent today, if that save from Johansson on Wednesday was allegedly "world class" (it wasn't) then so was Pears save from the low shot today in the 58th minute.

Don't suppose anyone is saying that about Pears though. Lol.

In general thought it was a great performance until the first substitution when Eustace inexplicably tried fixing something that wasn't broken and nearly cost us what had up to that point looked like a routine 3 points.. Fortunately the second batch of substitutions stemmed the tide and we got away with it.

Travis was superb today, conversely I still think Tronstad is extremely over-rated - and that's being kind. Cantwell tends to overplay in the opposition box when he should be pulling the trigger but otherwise played quite well. Also tends to fade markedly in the second half.

Ohashi and Pears also very good.

He was all right today, the vast majority of the time though he's absolutely shocking and doesn't warrant a place in the side.

Enjoyable win in the end, despite Rankin-Costello's best attempts to make it a disaster.

Thought Rovers were good value for the win, but in some ways it makes me more annoyed about Wednesday's misfire...I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Reckon that was one of Pears best games for the club. Crucial saves at key times in the game. Shame the clean sheet was lost.

You could tell as soon as he entered the game that JRC was going to be a problem. In the 2nd half of JDTs first season he looked like becoming a key influential player, but he hasn't kicked on enough at all since.

Ohashi and Cantwell link up play is really promising. Although Ohashi is going through a dry patch, his work for the team is great, absolutely full of energy and effort.

Weimann showing the same strikers instinct that he showed on his debut to score today. Pleased for him to get a couple more goals.

Cantwell probably had a worse game today than on Wednesday and yet still key to the teams attacking play. When Travis is on it he can be key as well, as shown today with having a big hand in both goals.

Very important to stop the rot, and hopefully they can grab a home win after the break against Portsmouth ahead of a couple of really tough games in Boro and Leeds.

Colwill for Cardiff looks a player. Probably the only one from them that I'd take though. The rest of them seem pretty much your typical bang average Championship footballers.

Really? His work rate and pressing is a joy to watch. He works down the channels and good link up play. Yes granted not everything came off but he was more than effective today

A brilliant way to lift the gathering storm clouds and sign off for the international break.

The difference between winning and losing today was huge, in terns of both morale and the table.

Clearly, there are deficiencies in the squad which need addressing, but a win away under pressure is a more hopeful sign.

The Championship is bonkers.

I was really impressed with Weimann's movement around the six yard box today together with his poachers instinct for both goals. He seems to me to be the only player we have with that ability. I looked at his career stats and it seems he is no stranger to what we call the number 9 role. He looks lost to me when out wide. He has a good, strong physique and I would like to see him in the 9 role in a central position working within the narrow confines of the 18 yard box in the style of the older Shearer under Bobby Robson. 

I think we could get goals from him and, crucially, more than 60 minutes a game.

Could you see Gally getting the first goal ? That’s the diiference between real strikers and wannabe strikers.

Very harsh on Ohashi, he had a very good game, especially first half. Hedges was also good first half but returned to factory settings 2nd half, but he gets through an awful lot of work for team.

We're 9th 2 points off playoffs after draws with nobbers and defeats at Plymouth & Coventry. Throw the Stoke game in and we could easily be a lot hgher.

Still, pleased with today's performance.

Excellent performance today and the first 2 goals were as good as any you will see at any level.

Good to see us 'at it' from the first whistle and we really surprised Cardiff with that high tempo approach. Played well with and without the ball and, JRC brain freeze apart, managed the game very well. 

Individually Pears was very good, Ohashi showed a work rate to be admired and actually looked quick at times. The much maligned Hedges upped his game (as he needed to) but Travis was the standout. All over the pitch, making tackles, good shithousery and a worldwide of a pass for the 2nd. Super stuff.

So, we've popped a cork in the leak after some poor results and the table can be looked at normally rather than through our fingers. Shame we have a shitty international break really.

I think you misunderstood my post.

I didn't mean that we were cutting down any trees or had any reason for self congratulation.

I didn't say he was or  wasn't the best in the league, or the world. It's this idea that Pears seems to supposedly be the only keeper who makes mistakes.

Especially early on this season, Johansson was being vilified by Stoke fans. Be it Pears, Johansson or anyone else, at our level of recruitment, the keeper will make bad mistakes.
