Home area crowds haven’t dropped this season.

Once Leeds, Sunderland, Dingles, PNE visit I’d imagine we’ll finish the season with the highest average attendance since 2012, a low bar, obviously but current crowds are just back to where they were c2014 time - I.e we are stagnant as the rest of the league has seen gates rise exponentially this past decade.

Wow didnt know that... So the more tv and early kick offs haven't impacted home crowds? Just away fans?

This obviously isn’t normal weather it’s on the extreme end

Hopefully be on, I’m nervously looking out my windows hoping there’s not too much damage in my garden!

It's rain quite alot out here in the UK. I was driving and shopping this morning. It's was windy and raining hard but it's normal weather for this country at this time of the year.

I hope the game will be on hopefully 🙏🤞

I don’t think it ever was going to impact it this season as season ticket holders would be buying in the summer without quite releasing just how much they were going to be messed about… next season will be interesting (across the Championship).

As an example if it is off today we’ll have had just *four* Saturday 3pms by late January.

Only Fleetwood by the looks of it, Rochdale too if we're going that far down.

Nothing at North End or Bolton who are a 1230 game.

Deepdale is OK according to my son who is on the Ground staff.

It's a hard one as unless it really is in the eye of a storm a professional pitch can be bad at 10 am but playable by 1 pm.

We all take the piss but it's a tough call to make and any Pompey fans setting off would surely know the risk involved when the forecasts have been telling everyone for days there'll be a storm on Sat.

If you're more than 50% worried you don't set off it's that simple.

A shambles calling it off that late for their travelling fans.

What do you think should be the last time for an inspection ?

The problem with having an inspection too early is that (1) if you give the game a definite go ahead then there is a risk of playing in farcical, possibly dangerous, conditions if the weather deteriorates more than expected and (2) if the game is called off then people complain if in fact conditions turn out to be playable.

Weather forecasting is really accurate now. If there is an early inspection and the referee deems the pitch fit at that time he should also contact the local Met Office for an update. This can then be factored into his decision. Also speak to the head groundsman and his staff. They know the pitch better than anyone.

Gd knows what state the pitch would have been in at 4-55.

And then for the rest of the season.

We've played games on boggy pitches over the years and it's knackered the pitch up more for months after

It seems poor how often we have games called off compared to others but I’m perhaps naive, is it to do with the water not able to drain into the river when full?

would covers not help?

Game off - according to sky.

It really shows Rovers to be an amateur outfit. I have been told that the pitch wasn't covered which in itself is embarrassing.
