The England Team - all the news, views…

As touched upon in other posts, the international break has become somewhat a thorn in the side of some domestic clubs, with 8 withdrawing from duties  ahead of England v Greece tomorrow,  (cant blame them) I wonder if it imposes any fine  for the players or if it's in an international contract (if that's even a thing)

I wish him luck, didn't see Lineker with his hand up, the weasel.

Great day for football fans, he's leaving match of the day, I'll be able to watch it with the sound on.

Maybe for you, I can’t say I care either way tbf.

Down vote from roverandout 😭 But I’d watch the captain’s interview from today, he’s obviously riled that half the squad have sacked it off and don’t see it in anyway as a priority.

So as I said ’fans don’t care, coaches don’t care, players don’t care’.

Meanwhile we lose the sacred F.A. Cup replays so we can have more of this absolute shit.

The players don't want it, the fans don't want it, the clubs don't want it.

Total disgrace.

Jog on then. U don't speak for everyone

Injured: Saka, Alexander-Arnold, Colwill, Foden, Grealish, Palmer, Ramsdale, Rice, Branthwaite

Most are real injuries. The doubts are with Colwill, Foden and Grealish.

Withdrawals from England squads are nothing new, been going on for decades, and this time with a lame duck manager.

I'm not a fan of all these internationals BUT plenty of people are. I also really don't like what has been done to the FA Cup - when I started following football it was possibly more important than the league, at least to fans and even I suspect some of the players.

But aren't phrases like 'absolute shit' and 'total disgrace' a bit over the top for a discussion on the merits of international football Vs FA cup replays?

Roverandout is clearly a passionate supporter of both Rovers and England. I don't think other people should be so disrespectful of his views.

Except Harry Kane and many other players do seem to care. And hundreds of thousands of fans - if they moved the internationals around the country I think that would be more obvious than a half-empty Wembley.

I guess most Coaches don't care (and never have done tbh even when they weren't nearly all non-English!) as they get sacked if results are bad and they don't see a benefit to them of their players playing for England. Liverpool and Man United in the 70's had a reputation for players withdrawing and the miraculously recovering the following week.

I’m not saying international football as a whole doesn’t matter, the summer tournaments are probably the biggest events in world sport… the Nations League, however, does not matter and that’s pretty obvious with the shoulder shrugging of most fans and by taking one look at England’s squad.

Exactly, I don't even mind the odd friendly but when you're getting rid of F.A Cup replays, something that has been a cornerstone of the English football tradition ever since the game was codified, to make way for a load of pointless international friendlies and some shitty European early round games then I think it is an absolute disgrace.

Counting down the seconds until I get the 👎 from roverandout as he seems to go full chaddy when it comes to this topic.

The situation can only get worse with the number of foreign premier league managers who don’t give a toss for England.

Personally I don't think the foreign managers in the premier league will make that much difference. We have always had Scottish and Welsh managers, who give even less of a toss about England

Good performance given the make up of the squad. Our passing wasn’t great at times but that’s to be expected with the team we had to put out. 3-0 against a good team at home - can’t ask for more really.

Our passing was excellent at times.  Pass and move.  The interchanging was far more enjoyable than previous games

I decided to watch 5 mins of the second half and ended up watching it all,i enjoyed it.I have to admit though the amount i watch the Premier league these days meant i couldn't tell you who the likes of Lewis,Rogers or Hall play for.

I don't watch much PL either.

I had never heard of Rogers or Hall. Lewis plays for City, I think, so is a shoe in if Pep allows it.

We played well mostly, a bit of brilliance by Jones for his goal from a great attack.

Gallagher put in a hell of a shift.

Every single player in the England team showed by endeavour they want to play for the team.

A very watchable game
