I was surprised to hear Eustace pretty much say we didn't have a nominated penalty taker. When it appeared that three or four players were squabbling over who is taking the penalty I thought it was a ploy to keep Meslier guessing. Eustace confirmed he doesn't mind who takes them as long As they score.

it must have been a shock getting awarded a pen no wonder they didnt know who should take it

Great win. It's a crazy league. A couple of wins and you shoot up the table, a few without winning and you're looking down nervously. Reading about other teams it seems that most go on runs of good and poor form, you hope there's enough lengthy runs to get something.

The something in our case will be survival. Wins vs Boro and Leeds are unexpected and whilst both games suit Eustace's backs to the wall approach, the quality in both teams makes the results very impressive.

Still worried we aren't scoring many. That'll be a challenge long term but teams are built from the back which is something positive. Also don't like not having a penalty taker. Don't think that will end well for us.

Overall though a good win. 2 clean sheets and I think it's enough to keep relegation worries firmly at bay.

They had a couple, but created by us. Pears/Tronstad and the sloppy backpass from Batth.

Great game, more of the same from Boro and we look really solid defensively at the moment. A little worrying that Gueye seems totally lost and looking likely that we'll take a loss on him come the summer.

Hope we bring in a striker and a quick winger who can compete for starts and also be an impact sub.

3 to 4 good signings in January and we would be a real chance for promotion.

But it won't happen. We are creating momentum right now, any real owner would act appropriately.

Probably not bothered as I think it was well over 40 league matches since we were last awarded one, possibly the Szmodics miss at Rotherham ?

I was in a pub with a Leeds fan during the match and I asked him how he thought they would do before kick off. His response was ‘typical Leeds we will struggle - we can have 40 shots and only score 2 goals’. It really is a league where there is no clear dominating team, anybody can beat anybody and most fans and clubs feel exactly the same way we do. I dont think we will be pushing for promotion, but after thinking we were set for relegation early doors I can see us being mid-table. Good to get two big results on board, and to feel more positive about Rovers again!

Nice to see you posting.

Every business maximises its potential income. I would sell as many away tickets as possible to away fans, including Burnley.

We play away in front of 15 to 30k opposition fans week in week out. Having a few thousand at Ewood is largely irrelevant to professional players.

Until we can fill the stands with our own fans make as much as possible off away fans.

That's a false equivalence. Away fans make far more noise than home fans do.

Our away support probably makes more total noise, not just per fan, than our home support.

OK, good to see/ hear he's had a couple of good games. Let's see if he can keep it up, no-one was singing his praises after the Stoke game.

As I said, you're off your tits if you only think he's had a couple of good games. He has only had a couple of bad ones. A very consistent player.

He can keep it up, because by and large he's been doing that for nearly 1.5 seasons now. His genuinely bad games in that time can probably be counted on one hand.

Players! Managers! Get 'em here cheap while they're hot! Three for a penny, no time to be spending! We still think we're flogging chickens, get 'em all here cheaper than anywhere else! Buy now and get the training ground too! Everything must go!

The point was that he is currently making the saves youd expect him to make, without being like Kaminski and making outstanding saves he has no right to save. And crediting him from going from a keeper who was making mistake after mistake last season (many of which cant just be fobbed off as down to us being open and less not as hard to play against, some where under Eustace) to one who is no longer making repeated unforced errors. Thats praise as its a considerable improvement and doesnt have any negative connotations.

Imo Kaminsky didn't make outstanding saves, Raya did. Kaminsky was on the whole a good solid keeper but nowhere near as good as Raya.

As for Pears, I was as critical as anyone about the circumstances in which he joined the Club but since the FA Cup disaster at Wigan after which everyone wrote him off completely I think he's gradually improved and the Sheff Wed howler apart last season I think he's developed into quite a reasonable keeper. Not as good as Kaminsky or Raya but nothing to warrant anywhere near the amount of criticism he gets on here with certain posters who jump on  the slightest error he makes irrespective of whether it costs the team a goal or who blame him for goals which are blatantly not down to him but  down to defensive errors.

I'm surprised he hasn't been recalled already.

Doesn't seem like it was Eustace's choice to bring him in.

Then you're somehow unaware of the fact you can't be recalled outside of a transfer window, even though it's been the case for many years.

Yeah, we've already discussed that, we had a winger in Gary Bowyer's time who was recalled early (Mo Barrow?) so the rules must have changed.

Perception of Raya IMO has been skewed by how good he has become in the many years since. He was very raw and young here and made plenty of mistakes in the season we came up to the Championship prior to his departure. It was obviously short sighted to let him go but even when he initially joined Brentford in that first season he was still making mistakes, notably one at Hull and also one in the play off final that cost them promotion. A mixture of experience, expert coaching and exposure to playing at the highest level has of course turned him into a totally different proposition. Had he stayed here he wouldnt be the same keeper.

Kaminski was excellent in the most part here. He won player of the season once and in his final season, he kept us in so many games (the Birmingham one at home stands out) but got an unfortunate injury which in the final couple of games prior to an extended spell on the sidelines, he made a couple of mistakes when he was carrying that injury. He then was never reinstated and moved on.

To suggest that the Sheffield Wednesday mistake was an isolated mistake by Pears would be absolute rubbish. Last season he made so many, he chucked one into his own net against Ipswich in the home game prior, he also made 2 mistakes at Plymouth, one at home to Hull, one away at Preston, one away at Swansea and one or two away at Ipswich that led to goals. Maybe more.

He was an absolute liability last season, regularly costing us goals. This season he made one at Coventry but otherwise the mistakes leading to goals (he has still had shaky moments, today v Leeds and a worse one at Norwich stand out) have been cut from his game and he deserves credit for that. He had a very much warranted reputation as a calamity who regularly cost us goals. Thankfully he has stopped doing that and the narrative is changing. When people mentioned in the past where we needed to strengthen, everyone said in net. Now they say other positions so he is gaining trust.

What planet are you on?

You either need to lay off the psychedelics or get on them because you're talking some absolute cobblers of recent.

First Tronstadt is shit now Kaminski didn't make outstanding saves. You'll be telling us Shearer wasn't all that next or that Tugay was a poor man's Per Frandsen.

Honestly, it's really bizarre.

Mo Barrow was an emergency 3 month loan, and a google search of rules at the time in 2015 (not sure if this still applies) says that an emergency loan may contain a break clause that can be activated at any point after 28 days, no window needed. Even in 2015 a standard loan (which are between half a season and a season) had to be terminated during a transfer window. If a recall clause was included. Otherwise a cancellation of the loan requires the consent of both clubs and the player.

I don't think we have had a loan less than half a season since then, I can't remember one. If that's the case, every loan since has only been subject to a potential recall in January.

I think he’s just on the wind up for some reason, or he is trying to cover his tracks for some total miss understanding of football.

Look back at what he said about Tronstad after the match on Wednesday, suggesting he couldn’t be very good, as he was part of the team that nearly got relegated, but then contradicted that one, with his opinion on Pears.

He seems to be unable to judge what’s going on in front of his eyes, or like I say, he is on the wind up.

Fantastic performance and week. The best thing about both results is that we deserved them. We were the best coached team and created the best chances in both.

Leeds positives - Sonny and Travis are top class with Cantwell dropping in to get moves started, it’s hard to think of a better blend that we’ve had. We defended as a 5 with Beck dropping in and attacked in a 424 and Dolan had his 1 in 5 good game, thank god!

The credit goes to the manager. We are now the best coached, and set up team in most matches. Based on what I’ve seen, if we had a remotely potent striker, we’d be a shoe in for the playoffs.

I think all loans, other than emergency goalkeeper loans, have to be either half or full season ones now.

No idea what year the rules changed though.

I am not sure, but It may be possible for an early recall if both clubs agree to it ?
