At sensible prices I suspect that they would, but probably at the expense of sales in the Riverside.

I'm amazed they haven't closed The Riverside yet for some made up safety reasons, maybe it's on the cards.

Happens in derbys all around the country. Not many places where you dedicate a whole stand to only the away team. 

We also had split Darwen end for a long time until crowds dwindled so much

Exactly right, if gates hadn’t dropped so much post 2012, all Dingle games at Ewood since would have had a split Darwen End just like 2009. The views of Lancs Plod wouldn’t have come into it.

The honest answer is I don't know. Our local police are very cautious and you could have split the Darwen End into home and away but no one saw so many tickets being sold. It's too late now

Why is it too late? 

Sheffield Wednesday sold us tickets in the Leppings Lane upper tier the other week, then on the night they simply redirected away fans into the lower tier instead and told us all to find somewhere to sit/stand.

We could split the Darwen End down the middle, give them 2500 in the lower tier and 1500 upstairs, place a buffer zone next to it then sell up to a further 3000 in the Darwen End to home fans (if needed).

The only obstacle would be deciding which 1500 of their 4000 to put upstairs and which not. I'm sure this isn't insurmountable. 

If not then simply shove them all in the bottom tier with 1000 spare for a buffer zone at the front and then open the upper tier to home fans.

These aren't radical bonkers proposals, it is maximising use of OUR stadium when demand requires it. Something most other clubs do each and every week.

So currently which blocks in the home section currently remain unopened? Are all areas in the JW and Riverside open or are both section closest to the Darwen end closed for it?

Imagine, for a brief moment, how this could play out under a club management team who knew what they were doing.

Not just the Dingles game, but the opportunity to take advantage of this little burst of interest from new/lapsed fans.

Small block in Riverside and lower tier JW on the Darwen End side. Probably about 500-750 or so tickets maybe at a guess

Someone posted a club statement on the previous page saying an extra 500 to go on sale making 600 in total left.

Club have just announced only 600 tickets left for the derby, what a tremendous effort.

Once again it puts to bed the cost argument, as history tells us, if the product on the pitch is worth supporting, the Blackburn public turn out, it’s always been that way.

It doesn’t put to bed the cost argument at all whilst we are in the second division, Boxing Day, Dingles are the exceptions, not the rule. We’ll be back to 12-14k home turnouts for most other games this season. Why? Because we have expensive season tickets so only sold 9k of them and you aren’t getting another 9k buying walk ons every week when it’s a cold February day against Plymouth etc.

It will be the same next season if we don’t go up, even if we have a ‘product worth watching’ as our fanbase aren’t buying second tier STs in big numbers at £400/£500.
 

At this level price reductions on STs is the only way to substantially increase gates. Now of course if the product on the pitch is ‘worth watching’ because it’s the Premier League, then yes we’ll see gates like this every week.

It doesn't really put the cost argument to bed though. We need to consistently improve the crowds at Ewood. Of course people will part with their cash for a one off game, granted nobody expected it to sell quite this well though. Improved season ticket sales are the only way to achieve consistency with the crowds. Get them on sale now promising a refund if we somehow achieve promotion.

I am absolutely convinced tickets were on sale for that last block in the Riverside..they sold very fast.

I think our more volatile young element got there first..you may have noticed in previous encounters!

I went on the planner the morning they went on sale and every seat was grey. Seems highly unlikely that the whole block was sold in the first hour.

I had a look at a bit ago and I think had a 1-5 left in the JW, a small amount in the Walkersteel/Riverside and then around 100 on each flank of the Blackburn End Upper.

To balance the excitement of the Dingle match sales and to further evidence Ossy’s post, take a look at all the Green availability for this Sunday’s match against Hull. This club needs ST sales at competitive/ cheap prices to bring Fortress Ewood back to life by developing our future supporter base and enticing back lapsed fans.

It says 600 in total, so I'm assuming it means in total.
