I'm listening to a whole mix of stuff at the moment, some System Of A Down and Linkin Park. I'm not big into rap but I think N.E.R.D are sweet as are Clipse (the dudes who rap on Justin Timberlake's song "Like I Love You"). I'm getting into Soundgarden and some Nirvana as well as Placebo, Incubus and Default.

A mate of mine is seeing them at the MEN arena and the prices are scandalous. The best seats (Block A ) are £165 each!

They will put on a good show though. For those prices they better had do.

Its about £180! Paul McCartney played Dublin a couple of weeks ago and he was charghing a fortune for tickets aswell! He's reputed to be worth about 700 million and he still wants to charge big for tickets!

I can't wait for the stones gig though because they are playing in a nice sized arena! It holds about 4000. Oh bloody hell - the anticipation is killing me!

Had a few listens of St Anger and I have to agree with the sentiments of this thread.

Some of the riffs are taking me back to 'And Justice...', however without the solos it is a complete waste of Kirk Hammett and some of the songs seem to go on longer than they should, but if the mid-sections of the songs contained a solo we would have had a metal classic on our hands.

But I do think it is a good album and a welcome return to heaviness, bring on August when I go to see them in Dublin!

Not the greatest band of all time, but while painting the house on Saturday (couldn't get out of it this time) I put 'pop' by Erasure on, hadn't listened to any of there stuff for ages & it was great to hear I'd forgot how much I liked them. It wasn't the coolest thing to admit you liked them when I was a teenager, but I did like their music & I still do.

Some people are so dam ignorant, especially when it comes down to musical tastes thinking that there own is far superior to other peoples, I couldn’t begin to tell you how passionately I feel about my taste in music, how much joy its brought and what it means to me and how much my musical tastes have evolved since the day’s of seeing Uriah Heep at King Georges Hall in 72, Obviously your not to experienced in the brilliant selections of a man such as Mr Norman Jay MBE. A little short sited to pigeon hole his blend of music under one banner “dance” and as far as your reference to ‘Burberry’ ??…Just typing the word makes me feel slightly nauseous, more akin to hurling racial and hateful abuse at football grounds around the country on match days I think, just the kind of friendly smiling faces you’ll expect to see at West Row/Southern Row London W10 on August Bank holiday Sunday/Monday enjoying the delights of The Good Times Sound System, at Notting Hill Carnival. Wise Up!

surprised to see so many Metallica fans on here really.  Saw the "Icons" program on MTV a few weeks ago and really thought to myself how I miss Jason Newstead, and why the hell James Hetfield has given up the true path of Alcoholica i'll never know.  But as my own tribute i put on their Live @#/? album which brought bang the bleedin' ears.  I currently have the White Stripes Elephant, Danko Jones' Born a Lion, Tools' Opiate and the Tea Partys Splendor Solis in the circa 1993 CD player right now.

I sincerely apologise for that previous comment. I was not actually stating that 'my music is better than yours'   it was just my dislike of that genre showing through. No offense was intended etc.

Rich, no smelly rockers around here. I am just a fan of musicians who can use instruments. I do wear baggy jeans though, so perhaps I'm biased...

By the way, is this Norman Jay actually an MBE?

Instruments eh?, I really don't see the difference between using something made of wood and metal, and some electronic gizmo, it's the result that matters not the method. Having said that,  I prefer the sound of so-called 'real' instruments.

Icons was an embarrasment........Avril Lavigne doing Fuel? And Limp Bizkit doing Welcome Home.....graaah that was disgusting. Really is pathetic that Sum41 of all bands put on the best performance.
