v Oxford United (a) - 18/1/25

Recommended Posts

Be a tough game, they were a big tough direct side in our game at Ewood earlier in the season.

They did however look shaky at the back so would try to attack rather than do our usual soak up the pressure away from home approach and go for a more attacking team.

Oxford 0-1 Rovers

I'm expecting a difficult game (yeah, I know - no easy games in this league!) and Oxford will be looking to avenge their defeat at Ewood. No doubt JE will have done the homework on how they set their stall up, and will select accordingly. I hope we go with a settled side, where the obvious team spirit and growing awareness of each others' style and abilities will help to patch over the threadbare realities of our squad. We shouldn't be arrogant, over-confident, OR over-cautious in setting out to play that works best for us. Let Oxford do their worst /  best and just concentrate on the things we know we do well. No need to over analyse, over think or over plan - JFDI instead.

Soccerratic inspriration - U's 0 - Oop Norf Nickers 1

Take a Punt - Oxford floaters 2-  Boatburn Oarsmen 1

Flood plains of the Thames - United 1 - Niggly Norman Bell's Alma Mater 1

COYB !! Let's put a good run together!

If you get there early there are 3 car parks

Recommend the one behind the home end goal opposite the end with no stand, so drive pass the ground on your left and take the left at the 1st roundabout, you can even park opposite the holiday inn on the curb if the car park is full

The 2nd best is the main car park next to the no stand end

The 3rd is pass there and up towards blackbird lees, don't recommend that takes ages to exit

Otherwise as stated street parking not great

Thank you .

Well said and I always enjoy your 3 way word play predictions 👏 😄

Oxford in the league are on a roll, unbeaten in 5 including 3 wins. They are going through a new manager bounce so this will be a really tough game. They gave us a really tough game at Ewood and I expect similar here.

                     Pears

Brittain    Batth    Hyam     Beck

           Tronstad    Buckley

 ACD         Cantwell        Dolan

                  Gueye

Unfortunately I feel like it'll be a 1-0 defeat. One of those fine margin type matches. I expect Buckley will start again and he'll probably be too casual and get caught on the ball, which is where our downfall will be. ACD and Gueye arguably deserve starts after last night, and then its a toss up between either Dolan or Hedges in the other wide position.

Where's Weimann.. one goal and one assist against Pompey

Oxford have signed Helik from Huddersfield,  apparently he could play tomorrow

Do I remember him always playing well against us?

“Michał has been playing regular football for Huddersfield this season, showing his leadership as captain on a number of occasions. It’s a real positive for me as a Head Coach to know we are bringing in a player who can affect the starting XI straight away. We are excited to work alongside Michał going forward.”

I’d forgotten this was allowed 😁😁
