Eustace Wants Out (Rumour)

And therein lies the problem. The full fan base has no idea of the ‘shenanigans’ that went on at the time of the takeover and in the year or two afterwards.

A select few who took action knew. The delegation that went to the authorities knew. A number of posters on here knew and that number has since grown over the years with folk passing on stories and info etc.

The stark reality, however, is that probably around 98% of our fan base is ignorant of the facts and, after all this time, would no doubt have trouble actually believing what went on.

I’m too old for this sort of thing now. It’s up to the youth of Blackburn and East Lancs if they care to step forward. As a starting point (if anything tangible were ever to recommence), I would plaster bullet points all over social media and local press with a view to arranging talks at a variety of venues in Blackburn and the wider area. Working men’s clubs, village halls and similar places. Get the fan base educated. Give them the facts. Rumble Venky’s, rumble Waggott, rumble the Shadow Man.

You would never get the 98% on board but 25% would be a good start. If 25% of a current fan base of say 12k were willing to ‘take action,’ how good would that be? That would be 3k able and willing to ‘make a nuisance’ of themselves, in whatever way was felt necessary.

The KEY to all this is to get those not in the know, IN THE KNOW. At that point in time, there should be a ground swell of support for the cause. It would be a point in time when something could happen. What that something is, that’s for others to decide.

If our support does nothing, the status quo will remain.

I compiled a breakdown of every major event that happened since 2021 onto a spreadsheet and posted it on here about six or seven months ago.

It'll need to be updated but I can post it again.

It shows in no uncertain terms that they are not fit to be a part of this club.

The whole idea of it was that people could update it as things happen and it can be used as the basis for writing articles about the state of things etc.

Done a very quick trawl on your account and can't find the doc, could you post it again?

For my own sanity I'd like to post it on Reddit/R/Indianfootball (200,000 members) and R/championship (108,000)

If nothing else I'd find it cathartic and it might get some discussion outside of this website going

Not sure it’s as black and white as that, Herbie.

I hear plenty of older fans too who come out with the ‘where would we be without them?’, ‘shit support’, £20 million a year’.

Collective Stockholm Syndrome for the majority of the fanbase, young or old.

Echoing this, a point I’ve made on any number of podcasts where I’ve been asked about Venky’s is your perspective of them is heavy influenced by how old you are & therefore your frame of reference.

They’ve been here so long now we have a generation of support that knows no different.

I recall in my formative years at Ewood hearing tales of a lost generation of support because of the 1960 cup final ticket fiasco but it meant absolutely nothing to me & didn’t influence me one jot. I wasn’t going to feel angry because of stuff that happened before I was born…I was a kid, I loved football, I loved Rovers, end of.

I am acutely aware when talking to fans in their teens, twenties & now even thirties that I give off a Grandpa Simpson “old man shaking fist at clouds” vibe when referencing what we achieved under Kendall & Mackay when we hadn’t a pot to piss in.

No money doesn’t mean no ambition. No money doesn’t mean no pride. It means you do things in a more energetic/creative/innovative way to stay competitive.

The current board are not imbued with Blackburn Rovers in the way that Bancroft, Keighley, Fox, Jeffries & many more were.

Those days are long gone & aren’t returning unless we do an AFC Wimbledon. Sad, but true.

Spot on, I agree so much, I couldn’t have written it myself.

Go for it, fella, about time all on the Indian continent know what the Pune virus has done to a small town in Lancashire and one of the country’s most historic football clubs. Ruined an institution, depressed a populace and lied about protecting the legacy of a proper local benefactor and in doing so, bringing shame on Pune and India.

Not a cat in hells chance of that happening mate. I used to bang the drum for this sort of thing happening and within minutes the cap doffers and hand wringers were on here with their bleating about how it wouldn’t work.

Even Home Counties, mard arse Reading fans went on the pitch, en masse, a season or two back, to demonstrate against their owners. Rovers fans have nothing to offer but, remember…

If fans do nothing, the status quo will remain. I quoted this a good few seasons ago and I will be quoting it again in ten seasons time. If our support can’t be bothered to try and run these bar stewards out of our club, we’ll be stuck with them until the end of time.

We're in a unique situation.

We did all the protests, but they had zero impact because the owners do not give a shit. They're thousands of miles away and do not watch the team.

As others have said, I don't know if it's part of the Indian culture, as I don't think there are other prominent Indian owners in football, but they're insulated from it all in Pune. We could set fire to the Jack Walker Stand and they wouldn't hear about it.

Yep, I remember it and very good it was too.

The other main problem with all this, is finding someone with the energy and drive to carry it forward. By someone, I really mean several people.

I’m done with it now. I was just putting forward a suggestion as to how I thought the problem should be tackled. I’m weary with it all and my apathy towards the club these days is as much because of the limp wristed lack of action from the supporter base as it is because of Venky’s and their stooges.

If you have a problem, in any walk of life, you analyse it, draw up a plan of action and carry that plan through in an attempt to resolve it. You won’t always succeed but at least you can say that you tried.

The vast majority of the current crop of Rovers fans can’t look themselves in the mirror and say that.

Over and out.

Fans blaming fans again. Lovely stuff.

This is bonkers.

Eustace can get a tune out of a shredded car tyre given the performance he got from that ragtag starting eleven at Bristol.

Rovers will never have a chance as good as this to get to the Premier League so cheapo cheapo.

For goodness sake give him the bodies he deserves.

Whilst I wouldn’t be shocked and I wouldn’t blame him part of me thinks (unpopular opinion time) that he knew what he was getting into.

All you have to do is look at recent history, and I know people always think they can tame a bad boy and this time it will be different, it never is.

In a way I envy him, he can escape this, and he can do it with his head held high, we are destined to live in this hell cycle until someone somehow shows us some mercy.

13 years ago I was naive enough to think my words could help if I got chance to speak with the owners, part of the fans forum and never missed a home game, now I’m a lapsed season ticket holder who feels detached from the club my family has always loved but still feel the pain of our decline.

I am amazed he is still here. Who would want to work under these lot with his hands tied behind his back. He may wait til Feb 3rd to see if the club actually do any good business but I wouldn't be surprised if he is off. He's a decent coach operating under unnecessary restraints

Absolutely Eustace knew what he was getting himself into. He isn't stupid. Fact is you don't want to be an out of work manager for too long, and we're still a club with significant visibility in the overall landscape - and despite the lack of investment, we still have a capable enough first eleven even with the squad depth being pretty pathetic. I'm sure Eustace will be disappointed with the support he's received - but surprised? I highly doubt it. He just knows that releasing his grievances to the press won't achieve anything, and will make other clubs think twice about hiring him in future. JDT had wanted out from the previous summer before he departed, and was likely confident his name alone would get him another gig, so he didn't hold back in the same way. I get the feeling he won't leave without something else at Championship level lined up. Even if he does offer to resign, as we saw with JDT, there's no guarantee Venky's would accept it anyway.

He might have known there was a chance that the same thing might happen but if you're told something different upon your appointment and then obviously again in advance of the January transfer window then to an extent you're entitled to rely on it. What happened before he got to the Club is indicative of what might happen but largely irrelevant. He can only judge it on how he himself is treated.

I'm sick of this "He knew what he was getting into before he came" narrative.

Absolutely no way Duffer would come, he is a mini Roy Keane, he just doesn’t put up with shit and would last a month at the most in this mad house.

Doesn't matter who we get as Manager in the future,so long as Venkys remain as absent, disinterested Owners the sad outcome will be the same year after torturous year.

Rinse and Repeat.

It has been suggested on here, that he was promised certain things, if he kept us up, but was then let down and the promises were broken.

Given that he was out of work and assuming this actually was the case, then he is perfectly entitled to want out.

Why are you entitled to rely on it when the people telling you it have proven in the past to be liars? I very much doubt Eustace is that naive.

Not sure what point you think I was trying to make but I never said any different?

I was railing against the suggestion he's not entitled to feel hard done by because he knew or should  have known what they were like in the past.
