Eustace Wants Out (Rumour)

Imagine being a football club where your last 2 managers have offered to resign (assuming JE does so).

He already has last summer according to Paul Mani.

Very much hoping Eustace doesn't walk out or get another job because that puts us one step away from oblivion imo but IF he did, surely not even Waggott or the LT would be able to put a positive or even normal spin on two highly regarded coaches walking out in 12 months.

Imagine then, that some of the supporters of said football club don't believe the problems lie with CEO, directors and owners.

Insane stuff.

In addition to that and even worse. There are some fans out there genuinely saying the following and using these points to protect said hierarchy:

1) The period 1990-2010 was a fantasy time for the fans, brought about by Uncle Jack's money. It wasn't real.

2) We didn't deserve the success we experienced during that time. We didn't deserve to be the most successful town Football Club. We got lucky because of money.

3) This now, under Venky's is actually normal and our real level, because it was like this in the 80's. I.e mid table, second tier, little money to spend. Venky's are actually doing a brilliant job propping us up by putting in £20m a year.

4) Nobody else will ever put in what Venky's put in. Nobody out there wants to buy the club. Without Venky's, the club is finished.

5) Rovers are like a charity case receiving charity from Venky's. I am grateful for everything Venky's put in. They don't have to give us a penny but they do and I'm glad they have kept us competitive in the Championship for all these years.

6) Ah, I know. I hate what happened in the early days. I really do. The blame and anger should go towards that agent and that manager at the time. Venky's were badly advised.

7) Our relegation from the Premier League was inevitable. We would have gone down anyway at some stage.

None of the above are my thoughts and we've all probably seen/heard all of the above nonsense online or when out and about. Those points are from actual older Rovers fans that attend games, not plants, not Dingles. Actual fans that have seen it all. Unbelievable.

Number 5 takes some beating, it really does. That is the definition of "head's gone" and you wonder what such people think football is about.

The money suggestion re 94-85 is such bollocks, so easily swallowed by idiots. United, Liverpool and several others spent more than us, we bought unbelievably well amd turned some solid players into champions with a sprinkling of stardust. People go on like we were throwing money around like florentino Pérez, utter shit.

Whether others will agree or not I don’t know but I’d put it like this:

We needed the money to succeed but we didn’t succeed because of the money.

Does that even make sense??, I may have had a glass or two this evening 😁😁

Echoing this, a point I’ve made on any number of podcasts where I’ve been asked about Venky’s is your perspective of them is heavy influenced by how old you are & therefore your frame of reference.

They’ve been here so long now we have a generation of support that knows no different.

I recall in my formative years at Ewood hearing tales of a lost generation of support because of the 1960 cup final ticket fiasco but it meant absolutely nothing to me & didn’t influence me one jot. I wasn’t going to feel angry because of stuff that happened before I was born…I was a kid, I loved football, I loved Rovers, end of.

I am acutely aware when talking to fans in their teens, twenties & now even thirties that I give off a Grandpa Simpson “old man shaking fist at clouds” vibe when referencing what we achieved under Kendall & Mackay when we hadn’t a pot to piss in.

No money doesn’t mean no ambition. No money doesn’t mean no pride. It means you do things in a more energetic/creative/innovative way to stay competitive.

The current board are not imbued with Blackburn Rovers in the way that Bancroft, Keighley, Fox, Jeffries & many more were.

Those days are long gone & aren’t returning unless we do an AFC Wimbledon. Sad, but true.

The difference is though that the 1960 FA Cup final was a one off event. This has been continuous for 15 years.

It goes one better in that they tried to persuade Mowbray to stick around at the 11th hour and, allegedly, he turned down that possibility as even he had suffered enough from their shenanigans and told them to do one.

So potentially that's 3 managers in the space of 3 years that will have given it up

Based on the ‘I don’t know what will happen. My contract is up in 2 games and no one has spoken to me’ interviews Mowbray was giving I doubt that’s true.

The club/Owners have fooked every manager over since that arsehole King Rat, why would you doubt anything they do?

I get what you mean, it’s not like people were queuing up to sign Kenna, Gale and Slater. People just look to shearer but fail to see/open their eyes to the importance of our cogs in the wheel; Wilcox, Sherwood, Ripley et Al

A faux pas to quote myself I know, but just need to add;

I've never understood this mentality of "it happened before I was born so I don't know about it"

It completely and utterly moronic. It's anti-intellectual. It's complete fucking bollocks.

The Holocaust happened before most of us were born, does that mean we shouldn't know or understand what it was or why it happened? No. There is no excuse for such levels of ignorance and stupidity.

(Obviously I'm not comparing Rovers to the Holocaust, it was an example)

I carried on going after being at Wembley for that game. About 15000 didn't.

Lesson is, its easy to lose fans, its hard to win them back.

I see a big exodus after this season if events carry on as expected.

Only a new set of owners could possibly turn this shitshow around.

Sick of all the lies and pretence. I don't believe anything that comes out of the club anymore.

I always say, we bought our way into the competition, but we still had to go and win it. Hell if Utd had pulled their finger out on the final day we’d have finished second.

You were lucky....my dad and i only missed Boro away of Cup Run(think it was Boro) and our postal orders were returned.

Cried behind sofa as the fiasco unfurled, ST holder since STs became the norm in the 70s.

WE need the Owners to sell up.....there is no positive now the £10mn to £20mn is not transferring to VLL each year.

Some don’t know about it (see the protest thread) even though it’s been slap bang in front of their eyes.

That's no excuse really. If you claim that you're a fan of this club and actually care then you will know about what's happening.

It's not hard.

I was thinking much the same.

I hope he stays, but if he resigned it might wake up a few of our supporters who either still don’t get it or in denial.

Absolutely, yet we have someone on the protest thread, who seems to be suggesting that there is an under current of racism, in what the suggested protest are.
