Presumably the 'Turf Moor job' he is talking about is the one which involves flying a small, private aircract over the ground laughing at the dingles. The Burnley chairman or vice chairman (can't remember which) was (is?) a Rovers fan and so should be able to put in a good word for him.

Rumours are that after Steve McMahon left Blackpool 'by mutual consent' on Thursday he could be on his way to Burnley. Stanley could be off to Sheff Wednesday.

I for one will miss Stans tactical rantings on Radio Lancs every Saturday night.

Ken Brooks - Last posted in June 2002

An elderly gentleman in his 70's, who moved from Britain across to America when he was younger.

Gav got a bit of stick from other board members when he made critical comments towards Ken. But I'm pretty sure that Mr Brooks left the site for other reasons - for which Gav can't be blamed.

As far as this messageboard is concerned, and if I remember correctly, he took exception to comments made about the legendary "early leavers" at Ewood.

He outed himself as an "early leaver" and was mocked to varying degrees by some people. I don't recollect if it was one post or the cumulative that triggered his departure.

I do have a vague memory of his farewell message.

I was sorry to see him go as he once took a lot of time to try and help me identify a medal which my great-grandfather left when he died. Ken did some sterling work to try and identify what it was for.

He never got to the bottom of the mystery but it was (I thought) endemic of some of the the help and friendliness of posters onthis site.

Cue: all members of brfcs.com sailing off into the sunset on a cruise ship excercising a "group-hug."

We had been in contact by e-mail through this site previous to that date.

I e-mailed him about 6 months after Aug 02 but got no reply.

I presumed he'd died because he was knocking on eighty.

I don't like it when someone familiar suddenly stops posting.

Wasn't that John Howarth Colin? CH if my memory serves me correctly was very knowledgeable about all things BRFC and a useful contributor, but a stickler for his habit of leaving early and spoiling the view of the people who stay in their seats until the final whistle.
