Taken by Jed McNamee to Sunderland the powerful striker became a regular in the Sunderland first team under Roy Keane. However his off-field behaviour (he was cautioned by the police for firing paint balls at pedestrians from a moving car and his involvement in the making of a lewd video) led to him being show the exit door. His move to Norwich was unremarkable but at Preston and Doncaster he established himself as a hard running, competitive striker. His contract at Doncaster had a year remaining in 2014 but because of the club’s relegation his salary dropped by 50%. When Blackburn expressed an interest in him Doncaster could not stand in his way because his contract allowed him to leave if he so desired. He proved a huge disappointment at the club, frequently injured and failing to score in 1,832 minutes on the field. He joined Bury on a one year contract but had knee trouble and never played for the club.
