At the age of fourteen, Evans had to leave High School in Belfast and re-locate to Manchester. His elder brother,Jonny, had been offered a training contract with Manchester United and since their father had just lost his job at Shorts, the family re-located. Corry followed his brother to Old Trafford but failed to make strides as quickly as Jonny and eventually joined Hull City. He became a versatile player who could play as a holding midfielder or centre back and soon joined Jonny in the Northern Ireland national team. Hull’s promotion to the Premier League resulted in them being anxious to unload fringe players so that they could recruit better class players and he joined the Rovers just before the start of the 2013/14 season. He was injured when he signed and another serious injury restricted his contribution during the season but he appeared to be well equipped to play a part in midfield. Unhappily injuries were to be the dominant feature of his career and he was unable to establish a regular run of appearances. After five seasons he remained a somewhat peripheral figure to the fans although successive managers have displayed a confidence in him that does not tally with popular perception.
