    Summary

Belying his imposing physique Dunn's game was based on technical ability employed best in the last third of the field. With quick feints, jinks and sudden acceleration he could take on defenders in the danger area and was capable of finishing himself because of his explosive shooting. Brought through the ranks of local schools and Sunday football and carefully nurtured in the youth teams his progress was steady and he failed to progress to the international stage. Not at his best tracking back, he had to pay attention to the defensive side of the game but remained a true game breaker. Adored by the public who saw him as the player who used to stand on the Ewood terraces he frequently encountered the wrath of Graeme Souness who was not impressed by his off the field lifestyle that incorporated celebrity girlfriends. This led to his departure in the summer of 2003, his acquisition being a club record for Birmingham City. Recurring hamstring problems resulted in drastic surgery to his back and he played so infrequently for the club that they made him available for transfer. After agreeing terms with Bolton he was minutes from signing when the Rovers had an offer accepted, prompting him to change his mind and return to his own club. Although recognised as a key figure at the club, because of his creative ability and home club desire, his influence was curtailed by frequent injuries and inability to play ninety minutes. He was released in the summer of 2015 and joined Oldham, where he soon became acting manager. In January he was relieved of his position and in February returned to the Rovers as coach to the under 21s. In the summer of 2018 he left the club because he was not receiving sufficient enjoyment and wished to devote more time to his work with Garry Flitcroft's firm, Flitcraft.
