Dubbed the "first million pound footballer" by his manager Ken Furphy, the dynamic, bouncy, redheaded midfield player never translated his youthful promise into maturity. It did not stop Furphy believing in him (he took him to Sheffield United and then the USA) but Bradford lacked the stamina to be a really great player. He found a niche in indoor soccer in the USA, where his sublime skills were fully demonstrated in the penalty shoot outs that decided drawn games. Married to Jack Campbell's daughter he returned locally living in Withnell and then taking a sub post office in the Brownhill region, which he kept for over fifteen years. He played for some of the Old Blackburnian teams up to 2000 and coached in Langho. In 2006 he moved back to live in the USA to coach in the Tulsa Academy.
