    Summary

After starting from humble beginnings, he was even an England C international, Campbell worked his way into the Football League. A lightning quick striker with an eye for goal he frequently hit hot spells but clubs who paid large fees for him, Birmingham and QPR, were disappointed with his consistency. The Rovers tried to sign him on transfer deadline day in January 2013 but did not complete the transaction and he came on loan a week later.Despite the fact that he played little because of a broken metatarsal, the agreement for his acquisition in the summer was considered binding and he signed in July, although both parties displayed some reluctance about the deal. He missed the start of the season because of injury and was then arrested in connection with an inquiry into “Spot Fixing” allegations. Although he was brought back into the first team squad it was deemed prudent to allow him to join Millwall on loan, where he quickly recovered the goal scoring ability that had completely eluded him at Blackburn. His re-arrest in the police procedures prompted Millwall to terminate the loan but he was thus unable to play for the rest of the season. It was no surprise that in the close season the Rovers paid off the final year of his contract. He was eventually not charged with match fixing and opted to join Maidenhead where he played without pay.
