Signed when the club was attempting to repair the damage caused by the war, he was plunged                                       straight into league action and earned praise for his fearless tackling, control and accurate centring.                              The satisfaction did not last and he was released at the end of the season. He joined his more                            famous brother Sammy at Wolves but never played a first team game.
