A brother of the famous Everton international Cliff Britton he was handed a first team jersey at Blackburn when Bill Imrie was injured. A steady player he was always admired for his effort but once injuries abated he lost his place although efforts were made to convert him to inside forward. Later with Accrington he moved to centre forward. A proficient cricketer he was one of the biggest hitters the local leagues ever saw. He worked in the engineering industry in Worcester when he retired.
