    Summary

A lively winger who could play on either flank he was loaned out by Middlesbrough in order to gain experience. Despite a long spell injured he played sufficiently to win a Division One medal at Sheffield United and a month later gained a World Cup under 21 winners’ medal when he was an unused substitute in the final against Venezuela. A huge favourite with the crowd he was used sparingly because Mowbray mistrusted his defensive qualities. The issue became academic when before  the turn of the year he badly injured an old hamstring injury and broke down when he attempted a come back after many weeks recuperation.  A return to Middlesbrough produced no football and he returned to the Rovers on a permanent deal in January. However he was deemed not to be match fit and made just two substitute appearances at the end of the season.
