    Summary

Groomed by Manchester United and by England through its age group teams, Curtis appeared assured of an illustrious career. A dogged, steady right back who could move into the centre as part of a back three, he was consistent and enthusiastic. The first signs of doubt about his ability arose  when he was given first  team exposure at Old Trafford. After a bad performance he was  written out of their future and shipped out on loan to Barnsley, where he was a huge success and helped them reach the play off final. Immediately he was brought to Ewood by Souness  and in his first season the club was promoted. Curtis played his part and his career looked promising. Once again  exposure to the Premiership  revealed  limitations and the arrival of Lucas Neill  reduced him to a bit part. Despite continuing interest he was unable to obtain a move until Sheffield United took him on loan in March 2003. In the summer he opted to join Leicester, a move that brought him little opportunity and injury curtailed his  chance of obtaining a permanent contract at Preston. Snapped up by Nottingham Forest to bring experience to their  fight against relegation he ironically scored the own goal  that condemned the club to relegation to the third tier of the English  League system. After playing in Australia  he came back to England  to become youth development officer of UK Premier Soccer.
