A free transfer signing designed to fill a gap left by the sale of Kevin Hird he was a plucky, hard tackler but found the pace of the game hard to cope with. This was surprising since he had much experience at Blackpool but he also s truggled when he moved on to Wigan. After breaking a leg on a close season game in Spain he broke the other when he resumed training for the following season. He never fully recovered. A transfer to Southport fell through when he could not pass the medical and at Morecambe recurring knee trouble ended his career after approximately 100 games. As a schoolboy he was a champion hurdler who won the All England championship.
