    Summary

Burke always attracted attention because of his busy style, his ball skill and his energy and he was considered an outstanding prospect at Burnley. Given first team opportunity he failed to replace Peter Noble and a brief spell at Leeds failed to recover his prospects. In less exacting surroundings at Ewood he proved to be a grafter and displayed an ability to obtain some well struck goals. Dissatisfied with the terms offered to him he sought a move which started a period of wanderlust in his career. Returning local he actually started appearing for the Rovers' reserves when he did not have a first team game with Colne. He also played at Wembley in 1987 when Colne won the FA Vase and won a Lancashire Junior Cup winners’ medal with Morecambe. He worked as a representative for a brewery when he retired.
