An energetic, dark haired player who took time to settle in at Ewood following his arrival from junior football in the north-east. Never more than a deputy he found a permanent home at Southport where he proved that the embryonic goal talent that he had hinted at was tangible. He later crossed the Rovers' path again when he was a member of the Rochdale  team that beat them in the semi-final of the League Cup. He continued to live in Darwen where he played as an all rounder for the Vernon Carus cricket team.
