A tall striker who had risen through the youth ranks at Southampton he was loaned to MK Dons but recalled because he was not receiving sufficient opportunities. At the end of the previous season he had scored a stunning goal against the Rovers in the final of the Premiership Under 21 Cup. In a dreadful season at the club he was one of the few successes, running the channels hard and strong in the air. However his failure to keep the ball in the corner in a vital game against Preston resulted in an added time equaliser that ultimately caused the club's relegation. IT did not count against him when the club desired a return, although it took a year of negotiations before he arrived.
