It was a surprise in May 2013 when it was announced that the Rovers would be signing Eastwood who had turned down a contract with Portsmouth. The Rovers had finished the season with a loan goalkeeper, Sandiomerski, but they had the option to buy him and had Jake Kean and Paul Robinson returning from injury. The goalkeeping coach John Keeley had worked with Eastwood at Portsmouth and judged that he was a better goalkeeper than Seb Usai, who had spent the last half of the season on the bench. He took over the first team jersey when Jake Kean was undergoing a bad spell but quickly lost it when Paul Robinson returned to action. He played as the FA Cup tie goalkeeper in 2014/15 and then appeared to be preferred to Jason Steele for the final games although there was nothing conclusive about the preferred goalkeeper.
