An outstanding player in the club's youth side, playing when he was still at school, he was given an early first team debut. A natural goal poacher's instincts and quick reactions appeared likely to give him a good career but a bad car accident, where he was thrown through the car windscreen, changed his prospects. Unable to overcome back problems he did not develop and had to return from South Africa when his injuries flared again. He ended with Darwen, where he was released because he did not fit in with the team’s style, a sad result for a player who had all the potential of being a good player.
