1. I think its a question of what our priorities are and what we are looking to achieve as I don't feel we have strengthened especially to make an impact on the Europe side of things - much the same as previous campaigns worringly. On this I think we have to trust Sparky and hope the midfield sorts itself out. The forwards will only be as good as the service they receive , which I feel is lacking from midfield and is a big concern bearing in mind we are in Europe again. If Neill's mind is on things then keeping him is a bonus, and Oojer would appear to have the credentials to be a good signing along with Mccarthy. Here's hoping Tugay can defer his age and provide the creativity we are so crying out for. However, one thing that I do believe in is that it will probably give a chance to the younger players though to step up to the mantle ... ala Gallagher and Sergio. Here's hoping....
2. Not wanting to bang a drum or anything but yet again its old ground thats been gone over previously and comes back to what I kepp saying about the UNIQUEITY of Rovers and how it will affect us more than most teams -but other teams will start to experience the same problems if not on the same scale at the moment Things like this have been discussed time and time again with same replies Maybe ROVERS need to be the club that makes the changes - and as mentioned maybe the Rovers stayaways are doing good for the game- Who knows??
3. Indeed , however I suspect he will be a hit for Palace and will be worth the money to them.
4. Certainly agree GAV, unfortunately can't make this as I am ona stag do in Amsterdam and fly out same night
5. This is what I was trying to explain - most who go in the pub are not regulars - stopping the TV games will not if at all make much difference. There is alot more to it than just the prices however, but it is this that people see first then start balancing it against other things ....
6. And you think this will make a difference Jan. IMO, unless its a meaningful game its very unlikely the very same people will go down to Ewood if the prices remain the same. However... that is the million dollar question- if the pubs are prevented from showing the games ..will Rovers drop their prices?
7. --> QUOTE(Ste B @ Aug 29 2006, 16:31 ) 440531 Its obviously prompted our former resident site mentalist Vinjay to send the following in a few times. And I thought I was being over critical ....
8. --> QUOTE(ste b @ Aug 29 2006, 13:53 ) 440478 only 101 have voted on this topic so far. Its a fair point, but doesnt mean that the results should be ignored. But which is more than there would be at a Fans forum which they seem to think is a fair reflection It certainly is but that is exactly what they seem to do.
9. --> QUOTE(ste b @ Aug 29 2006, 13:33 ) 440462 I am told that John Williams does read such threads, but doesn't believe the views of this messageboard to be indicative of the views of Rovers fans in general. And he thinks the secret society 'fans forum' is FFS - pls tell me you are joking Steb? If he really does then he is a bigger prick than I thought already.
10. Not as much as MGP though Agree on the timing, however we don't know the full ins and outs and there might be more to the situation than just being dropped against Chelski
11. Not from my seat it doesn't Results I can accept but performances I can't - except for Bert who I think has surprised everybody
12. Nice to know I brighten up your life TND but explain yourself please to this minion daftest - obviously don't read your own posts Is two shots not what I said? Seems to me that people say its ok just because it was Chelski who we where playing -IMO we have been poor in two matches (didn't see all the Chelsea game but doesn't appear we did much really in that either) - certain things are inexcusable and not acceptable regardless of whether we are playing Chelski or Chippenham. I see we had nearly double the amount of corners to Chelski - did any reach the penalty box?
13. Rev see my comments on the Portsmouth & Everton thread I didn't need to see Sunday's game - you can have all the possesion you want but we do absolutely bugger all with the ball. Luckily I had other commitments on Sunday so only saw part on SKY TV (watch out JW I might not come back) and still not impressed at all. Interestingly the stats portrayed Chelski as having more possesion (just) yet more affective - I am not into stats but people's futile attempts at trying to paper over the obvious problems in our team is laughable - forget about the opposition - x2 shots on target AT HOME ffs.
14. Arguable that TCJ ... Reid doesn't look fit to me either (certainly wasn't Saturday as you could see from the grimaces on his face and in his running ... unless he had bad wind ) I like Todd also but he is worrying me now as he appears to have caught the Neil disease of 10min lack of concentration and totally agree about the dropping of players underperforming.
15. Where were you sat against Citeh 1864? Didn't see any toffees the other night myself If it happens again just push them up our way (toward the back of the BBE Lower RHS) whatever the team - think a few people would like a word
16. Being one if not the biggest critic of Emerton, I thought it right to praise him on his performance at RB. It might not have been the hardest challenge against Everton, but I thought he performed well and should be given another chance. However, I am not convinced he is a footballer and he still gives me the heebies so would like to see him after a few games in that position before I am convinced.
17. I have to disagree here 1864 - I think its quite obvious that Gray is having to do the job of at least two players as MGP has been absolutely woeful in the last two games (carried over from the end of last season). To me there was only Gray with any attacking thought in his play the other night, fair enough he got caught a couple of time but that was more down to our negative approach as I saw it and our lack of movement all over the pitch. It makes interesting reading that there are different players getting singled out by different people for praise and criticism which I can only see as being what I have been prattling on about - - we are not playing well at the moment and don't IMO appear to be playing as a unit and the posts on various threads which would appear to back up this opinion. What I do know, is that in the two games thus far - we have made too many mistakes, gifted the opposition goals, looked unfit and cohesion amongst the players appears to be non existent.
18. No because I was there Saturday (wish I wasn't) and last night, and know people who where not there last night after Saturday and know people who where who won't be because of last night. Also knowing people who weren't at either before the start of the Season and won't be going anyway because its in the middle of the bank on holiday and on TV at a crappy time and not worth the money. All reflective and arguably a good reflection on a larger scale knowing the general feeling of Rovers fans, however I suspect there might be more home fans Sunday but not many more
19. So is Tugay definitely back for Sunday -no doubt will be picked or better had be if available.
20. --> QUOTE(ste b @ Aug 23 2006, 10:19 ) 438316 Noticed last night he was banging away behind Tim Howard when taking a goal kick, he is just embarrassing. Not for the first time either WE HAVE TO GET RID!!
21. Not just you Paul - Everton are well know for their trouble, like MU. Alot of Rovers fans have good knowledge of them from our 2nd Division days and the Cup game.
