As per many others I am apprehensive but still looking forward to tomorrow. However, I still have niggling doubts of any chance of a win and honestly can't see much difference to last season without anything decent up front. I can see us scoring but also conceding. Optimistic - 2 v 1 Realistic - 1 v 2

[Archived] Football - A Bit Crap Really

Nothing wrong with the old Tuborg Bobf but what's this 'Ace' lager - never heard/had of. To me Double Diamond has to have been one one of i f not the worst. Anyway back to the thread- good post Bobf and entirely true -but as I have said previously, there are many contributing factors which unfortunately to Rovers have all snowballed together. Surprisingly, I am also looking forward to tomorrow as well - why I have no idea after last week, but probably because it has something to do with being our first home game - no doubt my attitude will change after the game and I can see a sub 16k crowd - in fact the worst in the Premier this season. -

Good Link Scotty Something I touched upon in the FA Cup semi final thread, with maybe Rovers fans leading the way and ahead of the game by not tolerating it and not being as naive as alot of fans - especially the Geordies. -
Living in Wigan I can vouch for this but there are also MU and Liverpool as well Maybe its not just us, but watched the match in a pub on Sunday in Wigan and there where actually so called Wigan fans in there watching the game - my response was why they hadn't gone to the game - answer - we can't afford -surprising they go out the night before and then the pub to watch the game - fans eh?? In addition, found it amusing to hear the MU fans slating Ch£l$ki for their last minute goal and their responses especially when I mentioned that it reminded me of a certain other team not far away.

Close Season What about since he has been here - take it you don't read what alot of us have been saying since he started here - theguy is plain and simply crap - which is not saying much considering the way the rest of the team played. Puts it all into context when the hammers sneak into the Premier and demolish us, yet Charlton so easily disposed of the Champions of the Championship Wake up and smell the coffe folks - no creativity no way forward. -

Not moaning CN174 - just highlighting Wouldn't know about any other clubs S/T renewal extra's as I don't support anbody else - but forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't this thread about enticing fans back? Doesn't exactly set the feeling in my book for people to throw their coffers at the club - :just in the renewal packs it reads as something of great importance and not cheap gimmicks -

So that's the exciting '+ more' incentive that was emblazoned on the renewals -

I'm in - KAYOS KIDS Will probably end up changing it around though -
Seem to remember him saying the same about Duff - anyway I think its more about that he knows Aresnal and Chelsea for that matter can afford to get him but he wants to keep him. One things for certain, if I was in Wenger's boots I would have injury prone Campbell on his way already as part of the deal that has been banded about with a suitcase of Newcy's to please them all the more

But was not playing as an out and out striker and was innjured - not a bad average really considering Dickov only averaged the same with penalties. Agree with us needing another striker dependent upon what Hughes has up his sleeve re formations, but I expect to see Bellamy more in his accustomed role up front rather than out right, which I fully believe would have been part of Hughesys guarantee when he was trying to sign him -
OH DEAR - WHAT FORMATION WILL HE COME UP WITH NOW?? What dya reckon - a bid for Amoruso?
-
Can't believe most haven't seen him play - simply he is not a Premiership player from my observations Reminds me of a certain Mr Ward - maybe Bellamy can make up for the guys misgivings though and he proves to be an asset and as normal lets see how he does in the best footy shirt in the World first before judging.

And this has been confirmed where? With the dropping and changing that was to be seen at the end of last season.. this would seem to put doubts in that comment.

Chaps Chaps It has to be agreed there is the possibility that what TND has been rumoured could be the actual and the statement from JW is just fabrication - but does anybody know what S/T sales where like last season at this stage - from memory they where poor so just because JW has said they are the same at this stage doesn't meant they are good. However, if this MB is a fair reflection of Rovers fans across the board -the votes thus far would suggest encouraging results in terms of renewals. However, I suspect sales will be down and the renewals in so far are mainly from the hardcore of say 8k and we will not see any significant increase from herein listnening to comments from other Rovers fans. I have renewed mine despite my comments previously, at the moment though I am considering WHY and could well be tempted to cancel. -

Yes and no re your more funds/st ratio Bob F - as EIT has said previously - its relatively small play as part of income nowadays - problem is that we are paying big bucks to average players (lesser product) which is what annoys - maybe not our fault but the state of Football at the moment. I go on holiday tomorrow and am still undecided yet what to do about my S/T - but MB has hit it on the head when he says the club haven't really done anything to entice the floating fan to buy (regardless of price) never mind the exisiting S/T holders. -
Tend to disagree with you there Eddiea nd side with Revidge- more like we took 3 steps forward and 4 back, as IMO we are probably in a worse position now in terms of on the pitch in calibre of player, our dwindling crowd numbers and the hope for the future. Add to this the factors of the Wigan being given the £25m kitty and now the Hammers Chairman pledging £20m for players and salaries sort of adds to the battle.
